I know Alpa has done reports from the studio before, but maybe the first presenting shift. She also works for BBC London News.

That's what I was thinking. Her maternity leave must have ended some time ago. It's been a while since we've seen her presenting the BBC One weekend bulletins.

That's what I was thinking. Her maternity leave must have ended some time ago. It's been a while since we've seen her presenting the BBC One weekend bulletins.


Kate freelances for the Beeb, so perhaps this was the more advantageous way to return to work for her. That said, I'm not sure whether a freelance presenter has any effective guarantee of work once they return, so it may be there's not currently room for her in the BBC One schedules - it's one of the grey areas of freelance work.
