Usually a dedicated presenter, was Fiona Bruce in 2010. Surprised it's her, and not Sophie Raworth or Bruce again. She's good, but not a big name yet

Given that Reeta Chakrabarti has been presenting the three daily flagship BBC one bulletins for some time now, I think we've long gone past the time that she would not be considered capable of handling election night news bulletins.

Indeed-otherwise they wouldn't have given her the big Christmas Day bulletins at the end of last year

Fiona had done the news on election night in 2001, 2005 & 2010. I'm guessing she didn't do it last night because she will be presenting the Six and Ten tonight. George and Huw presented them in 2010.

Fiona covered the Sunderland count last night.

On HD and BBC News, instead of 'coming up on Sportsday' at the headlines of the Ten, we saw Tim Wilcox with whats coming up on the news channel. However Martine Croxall has turned up for the Papers.

Was Tim on standby incase the 10 failed from Downing Street?

The same happened with the Six as well (with Fiona at Downing Street) yet Tim wasn't seen at all during the 6:30-10 shift (Clive in Downing Street, Joanna in Westminster) so yes Tim must have been on standby in case the gremlins struck.

Sophie Raworth doing the bulletins tonight obviously because of the election.

With Charlie & Naga in Westminster, Andrew Marr's news bulletin is presented by BBC Sport's John Acres from Salford

Philippa Thomas seems to have become a weekend afternoon presenter on World. Not sure if she still she still does her 2 days of WNT?

A regular thing or just this weekend? I wouldn't be surprised if they had schedule the big dogs to work this weekend, just in case election discussions had dragged out...

Philippa Thomas was also presenting the overnight election results programme on the BBC World Service radio on Thursday night/Friday morning.

Normal circumstances did not apply for the last week or so - presenters normally seen during the week also crept into the weekends (another example being Bill Turnbull on Breakfast).

I'd imagine that things should this week revert to normal service (with allowances for leave!).

Double Headed with Simon and Jane this afternoon

I think someone mentioned that double headed presentation is to return after the Election, which it has done from yesterday.
