^Read somewhere that Adnan holds the world record for being proficient in the most languages on Earth, with something like 54 languages. No wonder he has good conversational skills.

I just Googled this and the only source for this is Wikipedia, which says that he speaks 54 languages. However, it's uncited and has been altered from a previous version of the page which says he speaks five languages.

No matter, whether it's 5 or 55 it's still an incredible talent!

I agree about Babita Sharma on Newsday, although don't understand why they have kept changing the time announcements just before the titles - it worked in the first incarnation although now the date part has appeared elsewhere but the original order was fine. Maybe they can give her a role as an evening standby when she's due to be on Newsday if there is a major breaking story that is happening in the evening to make it double headed or to take over from the World News Today presenter?

Yes it is a help for Adnan Nawaz on The World Today, shame it's taken them this long to appear to settle on a semi-permeanent relief! I wonder if Jonathan Charles gave him the same training as he did to Naga & Komlor.

Yalda Hakim seems to be away more often than Mishal Hussein was and I'm guessing Lucy Hockings would normally cover in Yalda's place but I'm aware she's gained other responsibilities. Wasn't Yalda hired though to make documentaries as well as occasionally present? It was possibly an oversight especially as Lucy Hockings covered very well in the interregnum period.

Indeed - he speaks English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Urdu.

54 isn't even a record in any case - though, as has been said, 5 languages is not to be sniffed at.

I can barely speak English at times, so 5 different languages is quite an achievement if you are able to do it.

I think I've got that capped here, the newer version differs in that London announces the time first followed by Singapore announcing the time and the date. I do think the newer version sounds rather overlong. Other than the date, the rest of the lines remains pretty much unchanged.

Singapore: Hello and welcome to Newsday on the BBC. I'm Rico Hizon in Singapore.
London: And I'm Babita Sharma in London. The headlines:

[Headlines]

(Previous version:)
Singapore: It's 8:00 in the morning here in Singapore.
London: And it's 1:00 a.m. here in London. Broadcasting to viewers around the world, this is Newsday.

(Current version:)
London: It's 1:00 a.m. here in London.
Singapore: And it's 8:00 in the morning here in Singapore, on Tuesday, the 7th of April. Broadcasting to viewers around the world, you're watching Newsday.

Where does Simon McCoy fit into the 'new' channel. I was under the impression his duos were popular in the morning, which as many have said is a busy news time. Interesting choice by the BBC.

Is it possible to have a run-down of the current presenting schedule? I live in France so now have World instead of the NC. Thanks
