Just curious...
Caught the 11am news on the NC yesterday and today as its the first ToTH I can watch, and noticed that on both days Joanna Gosling introduces herself twice. First at the start in the usual manner, then again after the main headlines before moving onto 'other news'. Is this intentional due to the beginning being cut off on BBC Two's syndicate of the 11-12 hour?

Its been like that for a while at least, if mot since the launch of the simulcast.

I think its got more to do with the fact the script from the previous hour has two presenters - the 'also in the next hour' part is done by a second person when double headed. Since the 11AM hour became single headed Joanna Gosling has introduced herself twice while others usually do not.

Penny Marshall, who was due to be the BBC's new Education Editor, is no longer going to be in that role. She's instead moving back to ITV News.

Decision is health-related. More info: http://www.bbc.co.uk/ariel/29916248

Would you look at that - The day after writing this - No double introduction. coincidence?

Clearly the production staff at BBC News took heed of your post.

I heard that Rajesh Mirchandani was leaving the BBC. All why was he covering the Elections in America? Had he not left yet?

Yes, he's already left but the BBC has perfected cloning/holographic presenters so that you don't notice the difference.

Alternatively, he takes up his new post from January 2015.

Anyone knows why the overnights shifts are 3 hours long while daytime bulletins usually span 4 hours? I'm basing that on for example Mike Embley's 2am-5am shift is 3 hours and so are Newsday and The World Today. However 8am shifts span until 12pm, which is 4 hours long. Is it because overnights are considered less comfortable timeslots hence the shorter hours?

News Channel shifts are set around the national bulletins, so maybe a 3 hour then a 1 hour shift wouldn't be feasible?

Have you ever heard of people working their notice periods?
