Has Lucy Hockings ever appeared on domestic news? I think she's brilliant, but it's strange how you get the likes of Mishal Hussein, Jon Sopel, Tim Willcox etc who appear across the BBC's output, but presenters like Lucy Hockings who barely anyone in the UK will have ever heard of.

I suspect her accent holds her back on domestic output.

Nah I wouldn't say that. Alex Hyndman/Hill was occasionally on the ITV Lunchtime News and even on the 6.30 once or twice if I remember correctly and her accent was certainly not a normal 'English' accent anyway.

But Mishal, Jon, and Tim are exceptionally talented journalists. Shame Jon has left NC, he was a real asset to the team (although sometime unprofessional!).

I'm not sure that holds up to scrutiny though as both the News Channel and World News have many talented journalists who tend to work only on one or the other. Examples could include Lyse Doucet and Zeinab Badawi for WN and Simon McCoy, Matthew Amroliwala, Jane Hill for the NC.

Has Lyse Doucet presented any bulletins from BH since January? She seems to be on the road more these days.
Lyse is credited as the Chief International Correspondent whenever she does report for the news channel, plus she's on the Countdown, Zeinab is a regular fixture for BBC Four viewers so no problems there, Komala shows up on BBc World News (TWT) on the News channel every now and then, so there is quite a bit of shared personell between WN and NC in BH

There are many, such as Mishal, Jon, Tim, Naga, Martine C, George A, and Ben B, who work for both networks.

Lyse also now blogs for the World page of BBC News online, so she is definitely on the road more in her new role. But I regularly hear her on World Service's Newshour at the weekends, so she must work Tim style hours as it is.

Who presents Impact on Friday? Is it Lyse Doucet or Lucy Hockings? I also had a nice treat today looking at BBC 2 at 1130 for World News in the UK, I never knew Nik Gowing was still presenting!

Also, what regular slots does Tim Willcox have on World News?

Lucy Hockings. Lyse Doucet is no longer a studio presenter.

Is that official, James? If so, it's a great shame as I used to enjoy Lyse presenting in the studio. She was a regular fixture when I started watching in 2000. I do appreciate that she much prefers reporting though. Her talents were a bit wasted in the studio, but it's still a shame.

Yes, Rob. It would appear so. Although, she did say she would "be back in the studio one day". I guess it will be a few months away, or more.

However, with the addition of Jon Sopel, Yalda Hakim and Sophie Ikenye to the anchor line up, in addition to all the previous existing presenters, there isn't exactly a shortage of senior presenters at World.

Ros Atkins has also been added to the mainline team, it would seem.

I would like Lyse to take on a role similar to Christiane Amanpour at CNN. Mixing daily senior news casting with location work.

Yes, I'm surprised that after so many years, BBC World News has never given her a programme of her own. I wonder why the proposed Frontline programme never materialised back in 2010? I've always thought she would have been superb as the regular presenter of Hard Talk. She's got the gravitas and interview skills to pull off a brief like that.

I guess her skills and knowledge are better used out in the field, especially in regions where she is an authority on events.

I think that's the key point - she could do a show very well but they want her/ she wants to be in the field. And, as I said above she is still presenting regularly on World Service where she is also considered one of their main people.

Looking forward to Adam Parsons on Focus on Africa today. Yay.
