So with 90 seconds on BBC ONE not getting a dedicated presenter, perhaps a move to the NC for Ellie Crissel to present this new younger focused programme? With regard to going to single head presentation, Ben Brown perhaps moving to a reporting role, which he is very good at, Jane perhaps could move to nationals, then Joanna perhaps moving to afternoons. Not sure what will be happen with Simon and Annita.

Not sure about Annita but there will be a Twitter outcry if Simon Goes from the early shift.

They could end up shift-sharing. We could also see a move of some NC presenters to World for gap-filling.

Any reason for single headed presentation today, i would have thought with the developing stories there would be double headed..

It's probably just for the headlines on the NC, before it goes over to World as Clive Myrie is now on the NC from Amsterdam.

So, is double headed presentation being completely axed on the NC!?

Whats the source for this as I understood there will be two double headed shifts left on the News Channel (Possibly axing the current 11:00 - 14:00 shift totally)

Well what Mary Hockaday said yesterday was:

Quote:
We will save a total of £3 million pounds a year by closer working between the BBC News Channel and BBC World News, developing some new joint programming and revising the News Channel’s schedule. We will create a new international hour to be shown on both channels each evening, the shared overnight service will begin at midnight and there will be much closer working between production teams, especially at evenings and weekends. On the News Channel there will be more single-headed presentation, and there will also be new programmes including Victoria Derbyshire’s new daily show and evening content oriented towards younger audiences.

Now how that is interpreted is another thing, but it was also said yesterday that this change would enable five presenter jobs to be culled from the News Channel.

Neil Midgly changed that in his next tweet.

Five posts closing doesn’t nec mean that five BBC News channel presenters will go. But will look v different on screen

I would imagine David Eades continuing to present the 8am slot in the future, but also filling-in on GMT and Global for the next few months as well.

Could Lucy Hockings return to the 5am slot on a more permanent basis? Or, perhaps, Kasia Madera or Babita Sharma?

The two vacant slots at Impact and Global are now taken by Yalda Hakim and Matthew Amroliwala respectively. And we presume George Alagiah will return to GMT in the near future.

It leaves Lucy, Babita, Kasia or Karin Giannone from the current team as potential TWT permanent anchors.

If they were to think outside the box and try something new-ish, the News and Business combination of Maxine Mawhinney and Declan Curry would be a good European Breakfast line-up in the 5-7am TWT slot.

As a long term (23 years) viewer of BBC World, I would prefer the latter option.

Karin is an excellent presenter and has a clear voice so I would prefer more use of Karin rather than Yalda who in my opinion - which is often proved - is not a good presenter - if she remains should have a course of presenter coaching.
But I imagine she ticks many BBC boxes.
