Thursday I think.

A quick comment about the changes announced a few weeks ago - people on here seem to be amazed at Jon Sopel's appointment as NA editor. He is a good correspondent and has been based in Paris before becoming a presenter and has a good range of political broadcasting as he has covered the French presidential election in 2007 and maybe 2012 and has covered UK political events live on the NC from Westminster as well as other political coverage so is perfect for the role. It also appears to be the way the BBC are going as Carrie Gracie went back into the field recently as the China editor.

John Simpson is making quite bit of field reports lately. Have not seen him for a long time.

Simon Jack returns to BBC TV news, albeit temporarily, as Chief Economics Correspondent, as Hugh Pym moves to the new Health Editor role.

I can't really think of an immediate successor to Hugh in the economics role. I'm surprised they haven't advertised already for the role, and they still haven't looking on the BBC careers website.

Jane Hill presenting the Ten tonight even though Fiona was on Six.

Fiona does appear to be covering for George full time at six at the moment, so I'm not surprised she is on the ten less just now

BBC News at One

Worth pointing out it was the first year (after several years being number 2) that the Six overtook the Ten

Why is there only one presenter on the NC from 2pm-5pm today?

They seem to drop down to one presenter when someone is off relatively often nowdays, have certainly seen it on the 11-2 quite a lot over the past couple of months. Maybe cost-cutting?

Jane Hill was currently scheduled to present alongside Matthew Amroliwala, but at last minute was scheduled to present tonight’s BBC News at Ten

Jane is, she also presented last night’s News at Ten too.

China Editor Carrie Gracie was just on the News at Ten reporting from the studio in London - she hasn't been in Beijing that long and she's already back in Studio E!

A bit unexpected, but here's why. She's reporting on Chinese tourists gaining visas to visit the UK. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/27387427

I have to say, I'm really enjoying Jane presenting the Ten. An incredibly underrated presenter with great gravitas and delivery.
