Peter Dobbie presenting World Have your Say on world service at the moment. Seems like this is his first appearance in the programme in a long time. He has a new twitter profile which includes world have your say. Has he been on World News recently? I'm wondering if he has joined the whys team permanently?

He fronts World Have Your Say Radio quite frequently.

Are you sure? He used to but I haven't heard him on it in years, and there was a tweet from a whys producer welcoming him back.

I guess he's been added to the WHYS presenter pool again. He was on World News Saturday and Sunday as well, as usual.

Looks like it's been a few years since I've listened to WHYS then!

Mishal Husain now in Delhi covering India elections. She seems to be able to speak the local dialect with the locals.

At the time, was she in a local shop for local people? Very Happy

She was talking to crowds on the streets. She was translating what they said to English to the viewers and there's a moment she was filmed conversing with them in the dialect. It might be Hindi I presume since it's India, stand corrected if it's not.
However, Mishal's of Pakistani ethnicity.

Update: She probably has Indian roots from this latest newspiece I found:
BBC presenter Mishal Husain's bid to find grandmother's house

Hindi and Urdu are extremely similar and most of the vocabulary and grammar is the same. So people that only speak Urdu or Hindi can still communicate with each other easily. The main difference is that they are written completely differently.

Miss her on Impact, her calm and with a slight smile demeanor and very clear, stable pronunciation. I always feel at ease listening to her. She's the same on location too. Some journalists could get rather edgy, not her.

Rajesh Mirchandi presenting TWT right now, btw.

It looks like that once Alex's Salmond's speech had ended, Chris Eakin took over from Maxine early as he did the link into Click at just before 3:45 for those keeping note.

If I remember correctly, I have seen Maguire on breakfast before this year. Just the once though.

For those of you wondering when Carrie Gracie was starting as China editor she has just filed a report about her return to Beijing. A blog about this is below.
