Agree, if/when they are looking for a new Question Time host, the BBC should look no further

Not sure about her taking over on QT, believe that role should remain with a male, Jeremy Vine would be my choice. Think she could make quite a good Newsnight fill in though.

To satisfy your own prejudices or because you can't think of a female up to the job at the moment?

Interesting view. Why do you believe that role should remain with a male? (Genuine question).

I'd like to see Zeinab Badawi as a QT host.

Norman Smith, BBC News' CPC, is underrated and, whilst perhaps not having his name in lights, would make a good presenter as well.

And why does it need to be a female, just to fill a quota?

The job should go to the best candidate.

For panel debates such as Question Time a man can exert more control over proceedings. A panel debate hosted by a female tends to turn into a free for all with panelists talking over each other and chaos ensuing. Just think of all the great hosts for a moment and stop to consider how many are female? Very few feature in my esteemed opinion!

Zeinab et al will be delighted with your assessment of their capabilities.

If you're implying that something i've implied, then I need to imply you're implying incorrectly.

The implications of the implementation of the implication could be horrendous.

You were the one that passed the comment about another poster 'satisfying his own prejudices' saying the presenter should be male. He merely stated he wished the role to remain in the hands of a male presenter. What's wrong with that? He's entitled to his opinion regardless of whether you agree with it.

Let's spin it 180 degrees. If it were a female in the role and a fellow FM said 'I think the new presenter should remain in female hands' would you be saying it was satisfying their own prejudices, that the presenter shouldn't be male?

People should get a job on ability. It's simple really.

He seemed to want a male presenter for the sake of having a male presenter though.
Let's spin it 180 degrees. If it were a female in the role and a fellow FM said 'I think the new presenter should still be female' would you be saying it was satisfying their own prejudices, that the presenter shouldn't be male?

Yes.
People should get a job on ability. It's simple really.

That's my view, that's the point. His original statement suggests a female shouldn't even be considered.

Yes I don't believe a female should be considered for the reasons I have outlined above.
