I see Gavin Esler's profile has now been removed from the newsnight page. When did he present his last edition? Did they say anything about it?

I've replied to your message in the Newsnight thread, since the reply is quite lengthy, and more specific to Newsnight.

She did a couple of days with Simon a few weeks back , personally i don't think she is particularly good but i guess they need someone to replace Carrie who is prepared to work on a Friday.

Annita McVeigh has been on these last three mornings (Tue-Thu) and I think was very suited to the morning slot. Perhaps she can switch to mornings and maybe Tim Willcox have her 6.30-9pm slot?

I don't understand why they just don't give Carrie's slots to Sophie Long. Which means all they have to do is get Jane Hills slot on a Monday which Sophie covers to a freelancer.

It means they don't need to shuffle everyone around.

Maybe sophie doesnt want to work those days/times permanently, but happy every so often.

Alice Baxter now very much newscasting in her stride. I wonder if she's to be the permanent replacement for Martine Dennis at weekends? Alice has now grown on me, I have to admit.

And the turbines have very clearly been tamed.

Haha, well turbines aside, she has always had an amazing figure to add to the package. Also a rather husky set of voice, well that depends on individual liking I guess.

On the World Today, anyone knows who will be Naga Munchetty's alternate presenter to take Komla's place?

It seems Naga Munchetty is now presenting everyday , so their may be no need for a replacement, she has done Monday-Friday for the last couple of weeks in addition to appearing on Breakfast at the weekend.

I don't suppose that arrangement can continue though, it's probably just temporary for a little while. If she's working Monday-Friday, travelling up to Salford on Friday or Saturday and working Sunday, she's not even getting any days off!
