The appointment of Business Editor is a controversial one with the appointee Ahmed not a universally praised figure and his perceived left leanings will only fuel the accusations of a left leaning bias filtering through the BBC.

On the not of Gracie's successor somebody I would like to see alongside Simon McCoy is Sian Williams. It would be a welcome return to breakfast television and would bolster their early morning presentation.

Martine Dennis presented earlier at 0600 GMT, but it was obvious that she may have sore throat... the bulletin on BBC World News is now presented by Emily Thomas.

Confused He is perceived as the opposite actually. How do the hell do you think the business editor of The Sunday Torygraph would be left wing. Which is why lefties on twitter were bitching yesterday. He is hugely connected and Like Peston he will set the national agenda.

Why would Sian go from regular national work to the graveyard slot on a news channel. Once again tv forumers don't get how low down the food chain both Sky News (££££ the only attraction for presenters) and BBC NC are.

It isn't the graveyard shift - It is one of the most popular slots (most viewers) on the channel.

According to this article he was very close to the Labour Party when in government in the 2000s, http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/kamal-ahmed-nick-is-a-coward-ahmed-bites-back-780670.html To be frank I dont know a huge amount about him but from researching his credentials the impression I got was that he was left leaning.

On the Sian Williams issue, she isnt a regular feature on the national news. I'm not a regular BBC viewer but one of the last times I saw her on air was the Margaret Thatcher bereavement announcement. I think a regular shift for her would be good as I rate her highly and believe herself and Simon would be a very strong partnership going up against Eamonn Holmes and Charlotte Hawkins.

I thought she was fairly regular on the One, and also works for Radio 4?

She's not been on News at One since about July , not sure about Radio 4. I think that I read somewhere that she is studying for a Masters degree in Psychology which would explain the lack of appearances.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/ariel/23960626 - on study leave, she's been covered on the News at One by Kate Silverton. I don't know who's covering her on Radio 4, though.

Annita Anand and Suzie Klein, alternating every fortnight. Both are very good, too.
