Who says there was ever going to be? The presenters will only make up a small number of employees employed by the business department and they will (presumably) need to keep a certain number of presenters on their books anyway to fill all the bulletins! And actually the fact that Mariam Moshiri would be on, on a Friday, presenting the business news on BBC World News is surely an indication that their team is having to be more flexible!
Out of interest does anyone know the name of the guy who was doing the business earlier this week on the NC? And does anyone know if Rachel Horne (
) is coming back to present afternoons on the NC after her maternity leave (please say no please say no)?
The BBC supposedly made general cuts in its business unit, having demobilized its presence at the Stock Exchange, etc. But I haven't noticed any rationalization in the presenter line-up. Today on BBC World, we have Sally Eden and now Maryam Moshiri doing the business news. Sally Bundock is reading the main news. Juliette Foster presented the news and business last night and Aaron Heslehurst, Jamie Robertson and Tanya Beckett are all still around. Even supplementary business presentation is provided by Owen Thomas from time to time.
So, have there actually been any cuts made in the business presenter line-up? I can't think of any at all.
