Naga Munchetty again being favoured as a relief presenter - first 'Breakfast' now the NC. And another new (?) sport presenter tonight...Carrie?

I'm surprised Naga was on the NC, as I would have thought Working Lunch was more high profile. Was she on with Ben Brown - If so I would imagine they would have been a bit of a dull pairing to watch.

Well remember Jenny Scott used to appear over the summer back when she was on The Daily Politics....

That's true I suppose, I never thought she was much good on the news channel either.

If Sophie did move back to the news at six she could then take the deputys job but personally think the rotas should go like this:

Breakfast: stay the same
News at one: louise/emily
News at six: George/fiona
News at ten:huw/sophie

I think she is well suited to the news at ten the most.

Newsnight: kirsty/nick/gavin (emily would move to the news at one and jeremy to question time.)

What does everyone think will happen to Kate once sian comes back?

Kate is leaving breakfast permenantly in a few weeks. She will
be concentrating on other projects, but suspect she will cover on other bulleins.

This means susanna will probably become #1 until sian returns. Jane is currently on the 1 as louuise is on outside projects.

And somebody called sonia smith is on world news america tonight.

I was going to mention about World News America. Since Matt Frei is away, Laura Trevelyan did it last week, and now a woman called Sonia Smith is. YouTube clip of Sonia Smith. Anyone know anything more about her? I haven't seen or heard of her before.

Yes, I noticed Sonia presenting the other night and meant to post about it - she's obviously got married, but this is Sonia Ruseler who many, many years ago, was a newsreader/reporter for ITN. She also presented on CNNI for many years, but I haven't seen her on screen for a long while - couldn't believe it when she appeared actually!

There's a few videos of her on YouTube presenting ITV bulletins in the early nineties. She's presumably working for the BBC on a freelance basis while Matt Frei is away.

EDIT: all you ever wanted to know about Mrs Smith http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonia_Ruseler

Sonia Ruseler was a great news anchor, especially when she anchored the daily CNN World News from Washington. Whilst it is nice to see her onboard, I wonder why Katty Kay or Philippa Thomas couldn't have stood-in for Matt Frei during his leave. It seems a bit strange to have brought-in an additional (albeit familiar to US audiences) face!

Perhaps I have just answered my own question, in fact...............................

I recall a similar thing last year when Daljit Dhaliwal appeared on BBC World News America for just three days.

Henry VIII's presenting on the News Channel this evening!

EDIT: No, it's Geoff Clark apparently - he seems OK so far, but he is quite large!

Never seen him before but I recognise the name. Is he from one of the regions?
