Why can't they bring back the likes of Nicholas Witchell and Justin Webb? They were good national newsreaders in the 90s!

Does Huw Edwards still present the Ten O'Clock News or on BBC News Channel?

I have not seen him on the Ten for months, its always George, Sophie or Fiona.

He is still the main presenter of both BBC News at Five O'Clock and BBC News at Ten. In the past few months he has been away quite a bit. Also Fiona has been away and George and Sophie have been covering but Fiona returns next week and it is still unknown about Huw.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still hoping that Huw will do the main election programme for the General in what's probably going to be May next year. I don't think the chances are high, but he'd be far better than DD.

Well maybe for the election after next....can't see Dimbelby doing any more after 2010, and even then I'd imagine Paxo will be up there as a potential anchor...

Just to confirm with a more reliable source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mandrake/5906486/Michael-Gove-is-the-latest-celebrity-victim-of-swine-flu.html.

Would explain why Julian Worricker has been doing the late shift.

Karin did it earlier on in the week-I think it was Monday. It must have messed up the rota's a bit though.

What happens if Tim Wilcox get swine flu and needs time off? Would the News channel and World News close down, until he is better? Without him there would be multiple slots a day needing cover Very Happy

Actually, I don't know why all the hissing and spitting. I also believe that Nicholas Witchell would be a good current choice for the Six or the Ten. Why not?
