Will they definitely find a replacement for James Reynolds, or just have Quentin Somerville based in Beijing?

Not sure - James didn't mention a replacement on his blog post so Quentin could be sufficient, especially as Chris Hogg has recently been in Shanghai.

Interesting to see Nick Robinson, Jon Sopel and Martha Kearney are down in the RT as the presenters of Newsnight next week. Looks like all the regulars are away at once!

Also Robert Hall doing Breakfast on Monday.

Who's doing Monday - Friday Breakfast and BBC News?

This reminds me of the summer of 1997 when Huw Edwards and Gavin Esler took it in turns to present Newsnight for about six weeks - long before Esler was a regular presenter, of course - because they were both going to be main presenters on News 24 when it started and they wanted to give them a bit of practice in presenting, while Paxman and Wark were on holiday.

I'm also reminded of when Michael Buerk presented Breakfast for a week or two a few summers back. Not to give him practice, of course.

Looking forward to seeing Nick Robinson present! Not seen Mr Mair present for a while though....would be good to have him back on our screens

And as for Michael Burke on Breakfast...I just recall how awesome and laid back he was, yet having the utmost gravitas...was a pleasure that summer...2003 IIRC, they had just got the new red sofa me thinks!

whoa... BBC World News America is being anchored today by an American.
the name is Scott Simon, I guess he is from the NPR. (Wikipedia Article)

Yep - he is a long-serving NPR journalist. He has worked for the BBC before - but not as an anchor on BBC World / BBC America as far as I know.

Matt Frei is apparently on assignment in Pakistan. Presumably Katty and Philippa are doing other things? I noticed Jamie Coomarasamy presenting last week.

He's obviously not the most comfortable autocue reader - and someone really should have warned him how you pronounce Rory Cellan-Jones (Cethlan rather than Sellan)

Matt Frei is a great presenter, but there is one irritating thing that he does. When the titles play, we get the wide shot and he's standing by the screen he says in a deep voice 'Welcome' and then goes into the first story. This really does sound bad - why can't he say 'Welcome to the programme' - sounds so much better.

Jon Kay is becoming even more irratating and so it Kate Silverton now! Why not replace them both with Simon McCoy and Carrie Gracie? They are such an amazing team and they always add their own bits of humour. They are probably perfect Breakfast presenters!

Roger Johnson + Joanna Gosling are looking really giddy tonight, they have rather good chemistry...

Does anyone know what's going on with the business news on NC afternoons? Since Declan Curry started presenting the NC on mornings (and later Aaron Heslehurst and Simon Jack) Mariam Moshiri was the sole afternoon presenter Monday-Thursday, with Babita Shahman (?) on Fridays. Yet in January a very pregnant Rachel Horne took over from her, followed by Babita/ Sussanna Streeter. Now Mariam seems to be back. Anyone have any idea? Personally I can't stand Rachel Horne as a presenter and don't have too many good things to say about Sussanna either. Babs is good though. Seems odd that Mariam would go from main presenter to occasional presenter simply to present BBC World on weekends Confused

Noticed Babita presenting overnight on the NC on Tuesday evening.

Maryam Moshiri hasn't been on BBC World weekends for a very long time in fact. Months ago, IIRC.
