His old job, which includes leading the BBC News channel's coverage of prime minister's questions on Wednesdays, will be taken by political correspondent Laura Kuenssberg.

Since when did it include leading PMQs? Am I missing something? Seems the presenters announce it, if you like, then we see it, then a randomly chosen political correspondent talks from Westminster and interviews MPs about it. Or is the random bit just because James has been off for so long while undergoing treatment?

Both start their new roles on 1 September.

As pointed out James was noted as 'Deputy Political Editor' while in L'Aquilla today so presumably he's now continuing in that role as of now?

Personally I think Hugh Pymm should have become Deputy Economics Editor when Stephanie Flanders returned, but oh well.

Oh and by the way congratulations James - well deserving of the role imo.

Who is the replacement for Peter Sissons because Maxine Mawhinney has been presenting since 10am so she it looks like she is presenting both shifts now.

EDIT: Sophie Long is now presenting at 4pm

Caroline Wyatt and Quentin Sommerville have been in those positions for some time now, though as I posted a couple of pages back James Reynolds has now left Beijing, making Sommerville the main correspondent for the moment.

As for Barbara Plett, I don't think she has a new posting yet as Guerin has only just arrived in Pakistan - I imagine she'll turn up somewhere soon - James Coomerasamy has recently left Washington and a new Europe Editor is needed, so I'd expect quite a few correspondents will move around this Summer.

Will they definitely find a replacement for James Reynolds, or just have Quentin Somerville based in Beijing?
