BBC WORLD NEWS - FRIDAY 1 MAY - 21.30 gmt . I had just finished watching another smooth newscast by Mike Embley and was waiting for the usual headlines to be read out when up popped ---guess who? ... Tim (aka Thin) Wilcox to read the Headlines. I thought to myself, "Poor fella must need cash desperately if he pops in just to read the Headlines". Should we do a whip round for him?

The person who reads the 21:30 GMT headlines will be whoever is presenting on the BBC News Channel in the UK, as they move into the BBC World News studio at 21:30 while the BBC News at 10 rehearsals take place in the normal BBC News Channel studio. The bulletin is also simulcast in the UK on the BBC News Channel

At weekends what ever presenter is doing the News channel's overnight similcasts will do a News channel only bulletin at midnight. So whenever Alastair is on that shift he will do a NC broadcast.

Remember most presenters are BBC News employee's so in theory could end up on either of the two channels at any given time. Some presenters flirt between the two news channels more than others but its not contractual that they can only appear on one and can never be seen on the other. This may not apply to freelance presenters.
Is it really necessary to have both Olly Foster AND James Pearce outside Stamdord bridge? Olly was on at 10.25ish and James was there 5 minutes later. What's the point in that? Surely you only need one?
Sorry if I've missed something as I've only just turned it on, but why is the BBC NC single headed this afternoon? Is Jon Sopel in Westminster or something?
