Tonight's 6:30-10pm shift was presented by Matthew Amroliwala & Annita McVeigh.
I do love these kind of weeks when someone like Matthew (who fronts the 11am shift) goes to do evenings... tonight reminded me of how great these two broadcasters are together and made me wonder why don't they maybe get this new rota in:

0830-1100 Simon McCoy & Carrie Gracie (Mon: Martine Croxall)
1100-1400 Jane Hill (Fri: Tim Willcox)
1400-1700 Joanna Gosling (Fri: Julian Worricker)
1700-1800 Ben Brown (Fri: Julian Worricker)
1900-2200 Matthew Amroliwala & Annita McVeigh (Fri: Clive Myrie & Sophie Long)
2230-0100 Chris Eakin (Fri: Adam Parsons)

Remember...fantasy rotas/schedules are not allowed anymore.

Sorry! Got carried away haha.

There's nowhere near that much single-headed broadcasting in the next schedule.

Surely the next schedule should be up and running within the next month?

I would still like to see Chris Eakin back on days again. Remember when he did Weekend 24 Breakfast on News 24 with Valerie Sanderson(?) back in the day?

I've heard a lot about the new rota from my sources, don't expect Chris Eakin to be presenting regularly from a studio.

Ooooh, does that mean he'll be 'out in the newsroom' or going back to a reporting role. I know you can't 'do a spoiler' but a few clues would be nice. Smile

As we have heard that the news channel will be scrapping business presenters , so why don't they get guests in to chat about the business news , by that I mean get the presenters to narrate over the business news in a 60 seconds type thing as seen on the daily politics. And then get a guest in to talk over the stuff in more detail guests are free-cheaper than the presenters?

I just thought it was a good idea? Confused

What makes you think guests are free? Guests booked for expertise are often paid a fee for their services...

And surely it's getting the guests in and having a producer/researcher to co-produce scripts that's the real expense, not the presenter - hence the latter's being kept on in a correspondent role?

Indeed and they usually also get travel expenses too.

And Atkins is doing Global, albeit with Jon Sopel in Rome.

I think from the looks of it, Ros is the back-up presenter for BBC WN from 04:00 GMT block onwards...
