Emily Maitlis on the Six tonight. Having seen this for a long time.
I did think she would because she disappeared from the NC early and Clive continued onto the Five. Presumably she was originally scheduled to continue onto the Five and the Six presenter has been sent to the Vatican?
Good guess. But I'm guessing the reality of the situation was they had Huw rota'ed in to do the Five and the Ten as normal but was sent to The Vatican at the last minute, so they brought forward Clive to do the Five, whilst Emily stepped in to do the Six, covering for Sophie Raworth who was moved to the Ten at the last minute (George Alagiah must be off this week as Kate Silverton presented GMT today).
Interesting that they didn't use Kate Silverton as she had covered George's GMT shift at midday.
As I said above, I think they must have had Sophie Raworth in to cover George's absence on the Six, but was moved to the Ten at the last minute as Huw had been sent to the Vatican. Perhaps Kate had gone straight home after GMT, and Emily was their only option for the Six.
Foreigner here, I'm just curious how the BBC goes...
May I ask why is it BBC newscasts, whether it's on One, NC, and WN, has different presenters for Fridays, which I believe is different from Mon-Thurs and Weekends?
Because here in the Philippines, when you are the main presenter (or "anchor") of a particular news program, you are expected to show from Monday to Friday, and other set of presenters will do the weekend editions.
Sad news from the past. Reg Turnill the BBC's aeronautical and space correspondent in the late 1960's, 70's and early 80's has died.
As for News Anchors on Fridays it's a less important day news wise. The Country essentially turns into weekend mode once offices are left. News agenda is usually lighter, so the heavyweights are used elsewhere during the week on the News Channel and other programming, so the 'B' team do the friday bulletins.
A few observations made during these last few weeks...
Simon McCoy tweeted last week that he does every other Friday, and looking back at the archives which you can find at bbcnewsfix.moonfruit.com he's actually been doing this for a while!
Meanwhile, Carole Walker: she's been popping up on all kinds of shifts this last month. Perhaps a mover / new 'Rachel Schofield' for the NC, as it prepares to move to New Broadcasting House later this spring.
Regarding a line-up change in presenting staff on the weekday shifts, I'd love to see Annita McVeigh given a Sky News kind of slot since she's not used enough, in my opinion - evenings are quieter newswise so it would be more fitting for her to do daytime. Maybe they should move someone like Jane Hill or Emily Maitlis back to an evening slot to make this work?
I wouldn't mind seeing Sophie Long move to later in the day, actually - it's the same for Clive Myrie. More Julian Worricker please, less Tim Willcox (OK, give him the night shift if he's desperate) and someone please give Ben Brown a reporters microphone - he should be out and about rather than in the studio where he constantly looks cold.

You will probs see lots of different presenters popping up all over the place as rehearsals take place at nbh and Carol walker did last Sunday's 9-1 shift

As much as I rate Carole Walker as a fantastic political correspondent, as a presenter on the News channel I just can't warm her. When she's not looking into the wrong camera or stuttering into the weather, sport or anything that may require a bit of adlib - she doesn't have the same kind of presence on screen which the likes of Maxine or Fiona Armstrong command. She also seems quite lifeless, whether that's nerves, being out of practice or just her style, it seems a bit too snooty for even the likes of the News channel.

couldn't agree more haha! , but she has got better!
She Thearle did the lunchtime news on BBC1 today, and Kate Silverton will be doing the Six and the Ten later. I remember the days when the same presenter did all three or four bulletins on a Saturday and a Sunday.

That's a very long time ago, though, because in 1988 they changed it so a senior presenter did the main news on a weekend, so that's exactly the same as you have now - Moira Stuart or Chris Lowe would do lunchtime and teatime and then Martyn Lewis or Michael Buerk would come in for one bulletin. And the lunchtime presenter now, on a Saturday at least, is also on the news channel all morning. And the news bulletins are longer these days.
It wasn't so long ago Darren Jordan would do lunchtime, early evening and late evening on a Saturday. I think it was when he left they started having the duty NC presenter do the Saturday lunchtime bulletin.
Did the same presenter ever do the old 7.25am Saturday update, lunchtime and early evening?
