Jon Sopel doing the 10.58am summary. Is he going to be doing 'the One' today?

Lucy Hockings now presenting Impact ... I guess Mishal presenting last week was just their first week jitters in their new studios. Very Happy

Purely for the sake of consistency, I don't like how the BBC News at One has followed the weekend bulletins in having random BBC News presenters cover it. This week alone there's been Sian Williams, Simon McCoy and Jon Sopel, and in the last few weeks there's been Sophie Raworth and Matthew Amroliwala. They're all fine presenters (Silverton aside) but I for one miss the days of Ford/Raworth and Jordan, where it was pretty rare for anyone but the 'main' presenters to front it - and when there was it was usually Jane Hill (who is criminally underused at present). They don't seem to rate consistency very highly anymore.

I agree, he really looked so tan... and definitely not because of the lights.

Yes, there was a period in the early 2000s when it was very stable. I remember from between 1999 and 2001 it would always - almost without exception - be Anna Ford with George Alagiah presenting on Fridays.

It could be because the main presenter, Sophie, regularly stands in for Huw, Fiona & George on the Ten & Six. I assume (I don't watch the One) she doesn't presenter the One when she is presenting Six/Ten? Whereas 1999 onwards Anna Ford rarely (if ever? ) presented the Six/Nine/Ten. The One was her sole job. Also, they never replaced Darren Jordan. Six & Ten has Fiona. Who is the Friday/cover presenter? Sian? Kate?

While the One may not be stable right now, the Six & Ten have not been this stable in ages. Rarely do you see anyone other then Huw, Fiona, George or Sophie presenting.

This is clearly due to on-going rehearsals at NBH - nothing else.

Well Sophie works Tuesday-Friday so her deputy/cover presenter for Mondays is Sian.

You can add Mishal to that list, and Sian is really the only other presenter as a last resort. But the One isn't as inconsistent as people are making out; it's only this week in quite a while (excluding Christmas) where it hasn't been Sian/Sophie in their normal slots.
