Does anyone else think Kate's voice is really annoying? Compared to all the other main female presenters, it always sounds like she's trying too hard - almost a bit wooden! Sophie, Sian, Fiona, Louise and Emily, not to mention Jane, Carrie and most of the other female NC presenters all let the words roll off their tongues nice and smoothly whereas Kate sounds almost a bit military-like. Doesn't matter if she's on the One, Ten, Breakfast, on location or interviewing someone she's always the same.

Not surprised she made it to the ten - bound to happen at some point. I thought Emily Maitlis made it very quickly to all of the BBC1 bulletins, but then she made it to Newsnight very quickly and the ten is meant to be of similar seniority.

A shame to hear about Stuart's departure, but really I wouldn't be surprised if they'd changed that slot to single headed within a couple of months - don't see what double heading brings at that time on a weekend and they don't bother on any other weekend bulletins.

Surprised Sophie did not do the 10 considering she did not do the 1 but did do the 6. Though I guess it could have been a last minute thing, or maybe Sophie had somewhere else to be last night after the 6

Sophie Long did this afternoon's bulletin at 17:05. Has she done a BBC One bulletin before, or is this her first time? She did a very good job.

I think it might have been her first national BBC1 bulletin, but she had done lots of Spotlight bulletins on BBC1 South West before she was seconded to the News channel

Brilliant play by Nicholas Owen there.

The autocue stated that the US had never used nuclear weaponry.

Owen stated "Is that right? I though they used them in WWII"

EDIT I think the autocue should have stated "the only country EVER" rather than the only country "NEVER"

Great to see John Craven file a report for BBC News just then. Harks back to his Newsround days in one form or another.

Some would accuse that Craven report as a blatant plug for the rescheduled Countryfile. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt though.

Asha Tanna just did a report on BBC News just then. According to Wikipedia, she has been reporting for the G20 summit. I didn't know that because I haven't watched BBC News recently. She is freelance at the moment; she's popped up on GMTV as Senior Reporter recently.
