I wonder if there has been a subtle change in the presenting schedule on Breakfast, I don't think I've seen Charlie Stayt do Saturdays for months.

I think he's probably been on holiday the last couple of weekends and then before that there was 3 saturdays of olympic breakfast.

The last time Charlie presented a Saturday was before the Olympics started. Since then he's either been covering for Bill during the week and in turn had Saturday off or, like last weekend, been absent himself, in which both cases Roger Johnson and Simon McCoy have been covering. I'm sure now that the summer is over Charlie will be back presenting Saturdays and the rotas in general will go back to normal.

On another note, it's nice to see disruption has been kept to a minimum this summer. Apart from Eddie Mair on Newsnight and Tim Muffett & Steph McGovern on Breakfast, I don't think there's been any unsual rota occurences has there? Apart from during the Olympics of course!

Gav: nothing wrong with Paisley pattern per-se, but the Grey rendition was atrocious. I am sorry to say. His wardrobe manager have ruined a worthy Scottish legendary fashion icon.

Cabin doors to automatic could be a euphamism. It's the words uttered when an aircraft cabin becomes "sterile" and the automatic doors signifies that the escape slides are now LIVE and armed and will activate in case of emergency. If the doors are opened, the escape slide will automatically inflate.

The opposite is "doors to manual".

I think Sopel may be concerned that a blond Flight Attendant may, in fact, inflate his slide, and it will unfold uncontrollably onto the runway should the Blond accidentally activate the same.

Like.

It's not all that often we get to see Philippa Thomas reading the news from N8. She's on today, in the slot usually filled by David Eades. She really is an excellent news presenter and correspondent.

^She's been in that slot yesterday and on Wednesday too. David Eades is not appearing that often lately.

Just found this clip on Youtube of BBC News 24 from 1997/98 - who are the man and the woman presenting? I don't recognise them and they get cut off before they say their names.
