It is a big gig for Sue Thearle - leading the studio coverage of this breaking news story, alongside Rachel Schofield! It's not often she leads the News Channel full stop. Both are doing a fine job though.

It seems odd when gaps like this are left (Tim on this own last night and Rachel carrying on this morning) - surely this is the time to call in Fiona Armstrong or Julia Somerville?

They should have brought in Julia or Fiona to cover the 7pm shift this week. That way it would have been much less higgledy-piggledy with the presenters. We've had Annita McVeigh, Martine Croxall and no second presenter so far.

If he didn't have to read this current daily bottom of the hour bulletin on World, I'm sure Tim would already have been already over in N6 alonsgide Sue Thearle.

In view of the Breaking Story, they've probably decided to keep Rachael on for a bit longer. Perhaps Tim will move across to N6 for the next hour?

Rachel appears to have gone - Sue now flying solo and I believe sitting on the right. I imagine this is so Kate Silverton, who is presenting the One today, has more of a chance and time to get into the left seat and get ready.

If people want presenters and rotas chat off this forum, I have recently set up a new forum to accompany my site.

I think it may be a good idea to stop all the people constantly wining about these threads. It's there if you want to join, or not.

Good to know.

I guess BBC News planned to just have one presenter in the studio yesterday, with Jon Sopel and Jane Hill on location covering the Olympics countdown, but then the tragic events in Aurora changed the plans

Looks like it's a day of Tim Willcox on the nationals...he's presenting the teatime news and did the lunchtime and will probably do the evening!

He's also done 10-4 on the News Channel today! I think somebody else will probably do the late news. I remember on one Saturday last year Maxine did 10-4 NC and the teatime news, then somebody else did the late bulletin.
