John Watson. He's been on World for about a month now.

Thank you - think it's the first time he's been on domestic then. Can't find a shred about his past work, has he worked for any regional programs or similar beforehand?

He used to work on Newsround, I think?

Yeah he was on Newsround last year doing a segment called MOTD Kickabout.

Here he is having a go a football tricks. I believe he presents the main programme from time to time as well.

I was thinking, will George Alagiah still do both GMT and News at Six come September? He'll have move buildings for the next programme. I obviously think he'll still do both, but it's a possibility he may not?

I presume so. It's not like there's a million miles between Broadcasting House and Television Centre, is there? He'll finish GMT at 1pm in BH, have his debrief (or whatever), and then move down to TVC to start his News at Six shift. He'll be at TVC by early to mid afternoon. Can't see the problem personally.

Will he not have to attend the editorial meetings during the day? He also normally does the 3pm update on BBC1 but I suppose that could be covered by someone else. I think it is normally done by the person doing the red button updates if he doesn't do it.

Personally I'd like to see him do just GMT to give Sian a regular bulletin (though Sophie would mostly get promoted and Sian get the One).

Yeah, I would put Sian on the six as she needs a regular position on the main bulletins. I would move George to present World News Today, put Zeinab Badawi on Newsnight on have Tim Willcox on GMT.

Are the news department moving in September?! Shocked both news and world news, or just one

IIRC Andrew Marr and Newsnight are moving in first in the autumn, followed by Global News. Whilst this is probably September we havent seen any dates yet.

Domestic is not moving until 2013, and is one of the last departments to move.

PS. You should probably have put this in the Broadcasting House thread.

The 3pm bulletin is being scrapped, so I guess they will tie that in with the move of WN, to give George one less thing to do.
