Bloody Hell! Is Robert Peston always as dramatic as that???? Don't get to see much of the man, but have to praise Tanya Beckett for keeping a straight face throughout those histrionics.

Actually, rather entertaining.

No that's just his normal self. Very dramatic and makes every little thing seem like it's the end of the world. Hopeless on screen, always pausing and um-ing and er-ing. I wish he moved on and the BBC could find a better business editor.

Completely disagree! Yes, he is not a natural on screen - but he is a great journalist and always adds a bit of life to the story. Very Happy

I don't doubt his journalism credibility. But I do find myself getting distracted by how he goes about saying things rather than concentrating than on what he says.

I agree, Jaxford. Just because he's a good journalist with good contacts and analytical skills, doesn't make him a good broadcaster. IIRC he came from a newspaper background before joining the BBC - I think he's probably better suited to that role. His knowledge of economics is impressive, but I too feel rather distratced when trying to listen to him. I spend more time listening to the way he says things than what he's actually saying.

Bit of an unusual choice, perhaps: we now have Tim Willcox in Athens to cover the Greek elections. Yet, at the same time, we have Europe Correspondent Katya Adler in the studio in London, presenting the flagship program, The Hub.

One may ask why not the other way around? Katya has covered European issues for many years now.

Maybe BBC World decided the Greek elections are particularly knife-edge this time around, hence warranted an anchor, as opposed to a correspondent?

Meanwhile, Lyse Doucet has been sent out to cover Egypt again, which also means a further shortage of people for The Hub.

Edit: quickly. Someone please send a crate of hairspray to Athens. It's very windy.

Fiona Bruce in Athens as well tonight. And she filed a report, which I don't think I've ever seen her do before. It is very unusual to get Fiona on a non-UK location.

Although not recent, I seem to remember Fiona filing reports for Breakfast News in the 1990s. Or maybe I've invented that!

According to Wikipedia (not always the most reliable of sources I know), she reported for Breakfast News from 1992 onwards. She also reported for Newsroom South East, Newsnight and presented some weekend news bulletins during the 1990s. She then of course became deputy presenter to Huw Edwards on the Six O' Clock News when it relaunched in 1999.

Yes, I definitely remember her presenting during the blue "virtual era". She definitely did weekend bulletins, and I think she might also have stood in on the One O'Clock News. Huw also presented occasionally back then. One would never have thought back then he'd work his way up to the top of the tree!

Yes, I think that's one of the afternoon news summaries on BBC2. As I recall, the news summaries were on BBC1 in the morning, then switched to BBC2 after the One O'Clock News.

There used to be a wider range of presenters doing the BBC1/2 daytime summaries in the 1990s & 2000s, compared to today, where the presenter of the One or the Six just do the update instead presumably to save money. Off the top of my head and according to various TV pres websites, these included, as well as the duty presenter of the One or the Six: Lisa Davidson, Chris Lowe, Moira Stuart, Nicholas Witchell, Laurie Meyer, Denise Mahoney, Julie Etchingham, Ben Brown and Clarence Mitchell, and then in later years, James Dagwell, Maryam Moshiri, Sam Naz and Kasia Madera. Anymore you can think of?!

Well it depends how far you want to go back. The daytime summaries launched in 1986 and presenters back then also included Richard Whitmore, Jennie Bond and Lynette Lithgow. There are probably even more!

Yes there are, looking at The TV Room Plus site: John Humphrys, Andrew Harvey, John Tusa, Diane Madill, Sue Carpenter and Jill Dando. There could be hundreds!
