Yes, lovely to see Carrie back on our screens, she's obviously been through a horrible several months and it's great that she's come through it. I echo what everyone else is saying, they would be great on breakfast, they are a fantastic duo - serious when needs be, light-hearted where needs be - and are both really easy to relate to.

Does anyone else think that they different rotas they've been using may have something to do with a reshuffle.
Annita McVeigh seems to be doing 11am-2pm a lot recently and on Fridays doing that or 2pm-5pm. Sophie Long and Joanna Gosling have also had a few random swaps. Maybe they're planning to move Joanna to 2pm and make 7pm single-headed? At least it would make things more consistent because they barely get two days in a row the same two presenters at the moment.

Well there we are pretty sure there is going to be some sort of reshuffle - with the expectation that evenings will go single headed. So yes they are likely playing with different combinations. They may also look at a wider overhall of shifts to save money, such as one morning and one afternoon - cutting out the middle. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of relief presenters end up getting thrown out though. If a new more consistent rota is brought in then some would have to go.

That's the problem with them at the moment - there's no consistency. Back in 2008/9 there was a lot more consistency. I'm going to go into fantasy rota mode and I think I suggested this before...
08:30-11:00 Matthew Amroliwala
11:00-14:00 Jon Sopel & Jane Hill (Fri: Julian Worricker & Sophie Long)
14:00-17:00 Simon McCoy & Carrie Gracie (Mon: Sophie Long)
19:00-22:00 Joanna Gosling (Fri: Clive Myrie)
22:30-01:00 Chris Eakin (Fri: Tim Willcox)
A saving of 3 presenters on rota (Sophie Long, Ben Brown and Rachel Schofield). Ben's away so often he could just be a relief presenter. Annita would still be on weekends and would pick up weekday relief slots where possible. Rachel will no doubt pick up slots here and there too!

I think they are more likely to increase the shifts to four hours, than starting with a single headed shift. More like 8.30-12.30, 12.30-5 (excluding 1-1.30). I think they will want to avoid simply moving presenters to relief. My guess is that the likes of Julian Worricker, Sophie Long and maybe one of Clive/Annita could leave completely. Julian already has numerous radio4/world service commitments, and could easily be roated in for more there. Sophie could be moved back to a region. And at least one presenter back to reporting. I have a feeling we will see a more radical change than 'fantasy rotas' to date have suggested. Maybe even one of the big name presenters could leave the BBC completely.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Julian focus on other committments - I'm sure he "left" News 24 before, and then started popping up again? Rachel Schofield I have a feeling could be staying - once again I don't like to speculate but maybe Carrie won't be doing the same amount of days as she did before. Sophie could do relief work/weekends and Joanna could do the afternoon. I don't know who'd be the regular evening presenter though - Ben is never around enough!

Ben is never around because Matthew and Jon are never around, he always seems to be the main male daytime cover.

Honestly I think you're more likely to see a reduction in shifts per presenter than specific presenters leave, in the same way that Annita and Clive split the weekend shift rather than one of them leave.
But honestly I wouldn't read too much into presenters moving about at the moment. A lot of the presenters appear to be freelancers, and the likes of Ben Brown, Sophie Long and Matthew Amroliwala have been moving around for some time. For all you know Joanna was on the morning shift today (can't remember if Jane was on the Queen's Jubilee or the Olympics, but it's one of them) so that she gets an evening off at some point.
And I really don't see the benefit of 'fantasy' rotas. Equally, I really don't think 'consistency' matters - most people won't be tuning in at the same time each day expecting to see specific presenters anyway.
