I know I probably shouldn't ask - but what is this recent obsession with creating a ridiculous "omni" name for presenting duos?

They're news presenters not flipping Jedward.

Jane Hill... and Edward Stourton?

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Good God. Let's hope C harlotte Hawkins and Martin Br unt don't ever start anchoring together. Never ever.

Some of you guys will be jailed for language.

Or Michael B uerk and Nicholas W itch ell, for that matter. Razz

I'll let you have that one. Laughing

I see Riz Lateef is still doing the news for Andrew Marr. Is she now the permenant Sunday newsreader - and has she given up a day at London to do this? Is this really the BBC's long term solution to bring in a separate newsreader or will they look to change the arrangement post-BH move? I can't help thinking it is going to end up with Andrew Marr being simulcast on the news channel, with the news presenter (Nicholas Owen) giving the headlines.

Riz may have have equally given up one day of the 8pm 90 second update.

Karin is on World News right at this minute.

On the subject (in some threads) of news presenters working very hard........Adam Parsons and Jon Sopel and Tim Willcox, to name but a specific few!

Here's another incredible one. Lyse Doucet was in London anchoring Impact a few days ago. Then flew to Montreal to film and front the Canada Direct season, from where she was still tweeting yesterday.

And now today, a few moments ago, she is tweeting live and current from Amman, Jordan.

As someone who has to fly a lot for his job, I know how difficult it is. This lady is remarkable!

Lyse is now in Syria! That's a lot of miles in a week.

I really can't see Andrew Marr being simulcast on both channels. I wouldn't want to see Riz giving up a day on London just to do a few minutes on a Sunday. There are loads of journalists in the newsroom who could give the headlines during Marr. I don't see the need of drafting Riz in on Sundays. There are others who can do the job which means that Riz doesn't have to give up a day on London.

He's also now on World. And very noticeably wearing coordinated red white and blue, akin to an AirFrance flight attendants uniform. Sopel is good at this political stuff indeed.

Vive la France! Vive Sopel!

Although, if you watch the BBC News Channel between 9 and 10 they opt into bits of Marr, so they are showing the main interviews live. I don't think it would be a big problem to simulcast (most of the time).

Showing the "big" interviews on the BBC News Channel is fine. But there are some parts of the show that shouldn't be shown on the news channel. Such as when he interviews an actor or writer part way through, or at the end where a singer/band often end the show. Times like this could be used on the news channel to deliver important news. Having half and hour programmes on the news channel on the weekends is fine but if I think and hour programme is too long.

Surely there must be a spare presenter around during the Andrew Marr Show. Maybe Nicholas Owen could pre-record the updates at around 8:45am, at least then the news will be up to date.
