Simon McCoy and Naga Munchetty on this morning's Breakfast, from Salford. And Riz Lateef doing the news on the Andrew Marr Show, from London.

And I was glad to see Andrew Marr opened his show, with a statement proclaiming how sick and tired he is of all the Titanic coverage, and how the whole 'celebration' of the sinking is in rather poor taste. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the same, I was beginning to think I was.

It's not a celebration of the sinking. It's a celebration of the design and building of such a magnificent vessel.

Wouldn't it be better to have some celebrations of a magnificent vessel that actually did the job it was meant to do.

If it hadn't have sunk, you'd probably not know much about it.

Speaking of sinking vessels, I assume the media have now simply lost interest in the Costa Concordia ?

Is everybody now accounted for ?

I assume all the bodies have now been recovered ?

Is the vessel still on its side ?

What's happening to it next ?

Funny how 100 year old 'news' can supersede 3 month old news ?

With all respect to those who lost their lives on the Costa Concordia, the death toll from that disaster currently stands at 30.

1,514 people died on the Titanic. In terms of loss-of-life, its hardly a suitable comparison.

With all due respect, I think you'll find the Titanic's sinking was sheer bad luck, in that they didn't spot the iceberg in time. You show me a ship that can withstand a huge gash in its side and I'll accept your point. The fact is it was the world's largest liner at that time and was something to be proud of.

I really don't see the big issue of spending a week remembering those people who died a horrible death in icy water in the middle of nowhere. Is it really that much of an inconvenience to those of you who protest it? I'm sure you'd feel differently if your relatives had perished in the disaster. I visited the Titanic exhibition in London last year and I found it quite a moving experience that these people - many of whom were poor - were just hoping for a better life in America.

Is it me or is Clive Myrie one of the smoothest newsreaders on TV? Very slick.

Yes he is. He's really one of the best around at the moment. It's been great to see him on the weekend news recently. Although I do find him a little bit dull at times.

Yes, and that's what makes the Costa Concordia more shocking for me, than the Titanic. The CC sunk due to either gross incompetance, or a catasphohic and multiple failure of navigation equipment.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with people marking the accident, and those who have a close connection with it, grieving; but it's not appropriate for that to be some sort of all inclusive event in a week's worth of media overkill.

There are plenty of more recent and shocking transport tragedies, and because of the technology available now, one would imagine should have been totally preventable. Without resorting to Google, do you recall AF447 ?

Getting back to Pres, BBC South Today have only reinforced the prejudices many viewers have, that they are primarily a Southampton obsessed programme, by modifying their opening titles this week with Titanic related images.
That must have gone down a storm in Berkshire, the Cotswolds, and Portsmouth.

Simon McCoy has tweeted that he has recently been to see Carrie Gracie and they are hoping she will be back by the end of May.

Yeah, he's capable - but he is a bit dull. Perfectly good, but not very exciting. A bit like Ben Brown.

Ben Brown is good, in my opinion, and can handle breaking news well and appears to get on well with his co-presenters, but as an autocue reader I don't find him as smooth and slick as other presenters such as Clive Myrie, Chris Eakin or Jon Sopel. He's better on BBC1 bulletins, but not so great on the News Channel where I find him a bit up and down. Excellent reporter though, which I think he actually prefers.

Noteworthy that Joanna Gosling is on again this afternoon, this time with Ben.

Not a fan of Ben Brown at all - don't like the tone of voice that he speaks with when reading out stories, but that's probably just me and probably no fault of his own either!

Clive Myrie is dull on bulletins and on the NC - I don't think I've ever seen him smile! Not sure why he keeps getting the bulletins so often to be honest, would sooner be seeing Joanna/Julia/Matthew on weekends all of which are more experienced newsreaders.

I have to agree completely.

About Clive on the weekends, I imagine it's because they are making up for him only doing every other weekend on the NC. I would much rather see Julia in particular but also Riz Lateef, Jane Hill and Emily Maitlis appear more often.

I reckon Ben should stop presenting altogether. I just can't stand him. He's good on location though. I thought he did a very good job reporting from Libya last year. I would make him a special correspondent.

I enjoy watching Clive doing BBC One bulletins. He's one of the very few black newsreaders who present the main bulletins. I suppose as Kate's back we won't see as many NC presenters covering on Saturday. I would love to more of Riz Lateef on the weekends. Haven't seen her for a little while.

Just caught the end of World News Today on BBC Four. I think Tim must have said 'with me Tim Willcox' twice in the space of about 10 seconds!
