Thanks to TV Ark for this link.

Who is the presenter in the photo above Aaron Heslehurst?

And who is the Gent to the right of Nici Marx in the second line?

Triona Holden in the third row: don't recall her being a presenter on World?

The presenter above Aaron is Karen Mullally. She was a sport presenter on BBC News 24 and World in the early 2000s. The reason she's in the main presenter's position in that screengrab is because she's presenting World Sport. That was before it got its own identity and became Sport Today in c. 2001.

Does anyone know what the main presenter line-ups have been over the years since BBC News 24 first launched? Just out of interest really. I'll start with the most recent and work backwards in time. If anyone can help me go back further that would be great.

8.30 Simon/Carrie 11.00 Matthew/Jane 14.00 Jon/Louise 17.00 Huw 18.30 Ben/Joanna 22.30 Chris

9.00 Simon/Kate 13.00 Matthew/Maxine 16.00 Jon/Louise 19.00 Jane/Chris 23.00 Peter Dobbie
9.00 Philip/Kate 13.00 Matthew/Maxine 16.00 Jon/Louise 19.00 Jane/Chris 23.00 Peter D

That takes us back to around 2003. Like I say, if anyone can go back even further, that would be better. I know there was other regular presenters when N24 first launched, such as Ben Geoghegan, Gavin Esler, Sian Williams and Jackie Hardgrave.

Also, can anyone tell me what the weekend line ups were before 2006? I know around c.2005 the weekend presenters were Carrie Gracie, Maxine Mawhinney, Peter Sissons, Philip Hayton, Joanna Gosling, Chris Lowe amongst others, but what order did they come in in the weekend schedule?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I can help you with the 2001 period. As I recall:

Weekdays:
9-1 Ben Geoghegan & Joanna Gosling
1-4 Bill Turbull & Valerie Sanderson
4-7 Matthew Amroliwala & Jane Hill
7-11 Gavin Esler & Carrie Gracie
11-1 Peter Dobbie/Peter Coe

Weekends were a bit more hit and miss, as I recall. Generally speaking it was:

Saturday:
9-1 Maxine Mawhinney
1-7 Philip Hayton
7-12 Chris Lowe & Gwenan Edwards/Anna Jones

Sunday:
9-1 Peter Coe
1-7 Maxine Mawhinney
7-12 Chris Lowe & Gwenan Edwards/Anna Jones

Weekend 24 was still on BBC2 during the 2005 elections with Carrie Gracie, so she would have been the Saturday morning presenter back then

If it helps in Summer 2006 Peter Sissons did Sat 1-7pm and Sun 5-7pm, while Chris Lowe and Joanna Gosling did 7pm-Midnight. I'm guessing that won't have changed much from 2005

Interesting though how both Joanna and Carrie moved from weekdays to weekends and then back to weekdays

Im pretty sure during that period it went something like -

Saturday:
9.00 - 1.00: Carrie Gracie (9.00 - 10.00 with the Breakfast presenter - Bill Turnbull at the time)
1.00 - 7.00: Peter Sissons
7.00 - 12.00: Chris Lowe and Joanna Gosling (although Gwenan Edwards did this for a while - perhaps as a maternity cover?)
12.00 - 6.00: Deborah Mackenzie (although this shift has always varied quite a bit...)

Sunday:
9.00 - 1.00: Tim Willcox (I think?)
1.00 - 5.00: Alastair Yates
5.00 - 7.00: Peter Sissons
7.00 - 12.00: Chris Lowe and Joanna Gosling
12.00 - 5.00: Martine Croxall

IIRC at this time Maxine was still doing the 1.00-4.00 shift on News 24.

Fiona Armstrong has taken over the reins on the news channel. The BBC One bulletin is at 1 O'Clock. Is it possible she could present this? Very Happy

She is indeed. Apart from a summary in The Sunday Politics, I think this is her first bulletin on BBC One.

About time too! I wonder if this is her first national terrestrial news broadcast since she left GMTV in 1993? I know arguably the BBC News Channel is terrestrial TV but I mean the traditional main networks. I know she did Border News for years but that was only a local broadcast.

I think that other than the short Andrew Marr bulletin she did in July, it is yes. Think she did a good job of it too!

Ben Thompson has tweeted that he's on a train up to Salford as substitute for Steph McGovern on Breakfast shortly. Steph has lost her voice! Shame she has for the first day. Good luck, Ben.

I'm sure I heard the BBC One Scotland announcer introduce the BBC News Headlines at 11am this morning, with "Kate Middleton", obviously meaning Silverton. He corrected himself at 12.15pm.

Who is this lady presenting on BBC News 24 overnights, from the 1999-2003 era?
