The mystery sports presenter is Alison Mitchell. A regular on 5 Live, doing cricket reports, and the occasional sports desk.

There is another "stranger" this morning.

BBC World News viewers have been treated to a surfeit of Tim Wilcox over recent weeks.

The man would do exceptionally well on BBC World Service Radio.

Did anyone see the Nationwide documentary on BBC Four the other week? It showed the first 'grown up' appearance of Valerie Singleton. Fresh out of Blue Peter, Val was told she sounded like she was still speaking to children.

Trouble is that version of Val was a lot like most presenters today.

Anyone know what's happened to Kate Silverton this week? As someone pointed out earlier - her website says she'll be presenting the 1 all week, when so far it's been Emily. It also says she'll be doing Breakfast from erm..2 days ago.

Maybe she's ill. People often are at this time of year.

But knowing how everyone on here always prefers a dramatic or sinister reason for a presenter not being on screen, may I suggest she's been poached by Russia Today following orders by the Kremlin.
