Katherine Downes is the only one I haven't seen yet. What is she like as a presenter? Has she done many shifts so far?

Seen her on a couple of occasions in the afternoon slot - not a fan, she's a bit shouty.

Yes, isn't it interesting that when a presenter decides they don't want to move up north, the BBC finds them another position so they don't have to. I wonder how accommodating management were to the production staff who didn't want to go? Not very, I imagine. Redundancy was the only option for them.

Don't be silly she's just relief... Louise Minchin has gone to Salford so cant cover it and Kate Silverton is still on maternity leave.

Indeed - it was in that press release that she would be would be a 'key member' of the BBC newsreading team, so naturally she is covering bulletins. Suspect she'll cover all three weekday bulletins.

When did Sian last cover The One? Im sure she only did the Six for a while before moving to Breakfast.

Summer last year she covered one or two editions of the One, along with the Six and Ten.

The BBC wouldn't want to lose Sian. She'd have had no choice but to jump ship to ITV, C4, Sky, wherever, and the move would no doubt have been heavily publicised which would make the BBC look bad. The fact she's staying in London has been publicised enough!

The fact of the matter is that those in the background aren't noticed and there's not going to be much bad press about them not being re-employed elsewhere. Plus, I'm sure that anybody that the bosses wanted to keep who didn't move to Salford have probably been accommodated elsewhere...

Is Louise Minchin moving permanently to Salford for BBC breakfast?

Unusual to see Peter Dobbie and Aaron Heslehurst on The World Today early morning. Martine Dennis and Tanya Beckett on hols one imagines.

Peter is really an excellent presenter.

And for those interested in such things, you will be having "Suelian" today on the BBC News Channel. The chummy hours.
