Good pairing - they work well together as presenters and that always makes the channel flow a lot better. Ben Brown can only manage 2 day weeks then these days? Wink

Ben was on the Five earlier.

"BBC return was token gesture: Fiona Armstrong admits there was an agenda behind her return"

The usual balanced, unbiased article from the Daily Mail - however I do believe what Fiona says is correct, there's not usually much work for the over-50s to do on the News Channel. In the case of Fiona (and possibly Julia?), they don't live in London so it has to be worth their while coming down and do a weeks worth of shifts, and that space isn't regularly available.

She's actually on with Simon at the moment so I assume she'll do tomorrow too and cover for Maxine at the weekend like she did a while back.

Kevin Bakhurst has just tweeted that Sian Williams is leaving BBC Breakfast to join BBC Radio 4 and will also appear as relief on BBC1 National bulletins. Sounds a bit like the role John Humphrys used to do when he first went back to radio.

I wonder if Emily will take on more afternoon shifts as Louise moves to Salford, or if the current arrangement of random Jon with a random female will continue?

It's not really random. Sophie Long seems to have taken the shift at the moment excluding Fridays which is Louise or someone random.

I didn't know they had a presenter called 'Random Jon'.

I think that may be a first - Middle East Business Report's Katy Watson reporting on a stricken cruise liner in the Seychelles on the Six.
(If, like me, you weren't entirely sure where the Seychelles are, it turns out they're pretty much 2000 miles south of Dubai)

And Mondays, which is usually Emily. And any time Louise pops up (which, presumably, won't happen in the future).

Yes. there are two direct flights a day from Dubai to Mahe, and one via Doha, meaning that it's relatively easier to get a reporter from Dubai into Mahe as opposed to flying one from London (DXB SEZ is about 4.5 hours, IIRC).

I think Ben and Katy tossed a coin, and Katy won!
