Simon McCoy is flying the 8:30 solo. Presume its because of the simulcast with 5Live from 10AM.

Why would the News Channel and 5Live be simulcasting?

They've had an unemployment debate on 5 live today with a live audience in Salford. Victoria Derbyshire was presenting

Well Annita on with Clive this evening. Have really enjoyed having Fiona on the last few nights.

Yes it was great to see Fiona on for four days in a row. But Annita is a shifts deputy presenter so it makes sense for her to join Clive this evening.

Nice to see an array of presenters on the 8pm Summary this week. We had Celina Hinchcliffe on Monday, Sophie Long on Tuesday.

Does anyone know who did today?

Also something of interest. I noticed on Ellie Crisell's Twitter that someone said they had an offer from Salford University which meant they would be seeing a lot more of her around Media City. Am I over analysing or could Ellie be moving to a programme in Salford (maybe Breakfast Surprised )?

There's no role for Ellie on Breakfast. And she wouldn't be wanted on there anyway!

Unless they plan to have a Daybreak-style (and previously their own style) seperate newsreader?

I think Breakfast are way past the days of that. Almost no chance that would happen, especially with budget cuts we know of already across the BBC. Ridiculous suggestion, plus it's absolutely pointless role, which is the whole point.

Wash your mouth out Drew!!! Ellie could NEVER inherit Moira's role! That would be outrageous!

Seriously, though, I find it interesting that Ellie has never managed to shake off Newsround. The same goes for Sonali Shah. Both still have a rather patronising style. However, the likes of Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Chris Rogers, Julie Etchingham, Kate Sanderson/Gerbeau and Juliet Morris managed to make the transition to serious news presenters.
