Has anyone else got any reporters in Gaza itself? The BBC have their producer there who's doing increasing amounts of reporting.

Strange why they can't get more press in there. They say Israel won't let them in, but Gaza has a land border with Egypt, and also a long coast line, so why can't they just cross from Egypt, or even get in a dinghy!!!

I'm guessing Israel probably has a close eye on everything entering & leaving the strip. Isn't crossing a closed border also slightly illegal?

What's the border between Gaza and Egypt got to do with Israel. Thought they'd handed control of Gaza over to the Palestinian Authority.

Do you think Egypt wants to risk it's relations with Israel by letting people in to Gaza?

Al Jazeera have got someone there. When crossing to him just now they proclaimed they were "the only major international broadcaster able to report live from Gaza" which isn't strictly true because as has been said, the BBC have been having their (presumably World Service?) producer giving live updates.

Seems there's been a swapover of some BBC presenters?

Rachel Horne has been presenting business this week, and appears to have left Working Lunch (profile has been replaced by some new guy), Oli Foster seems to be a reporter more than a presenter now, Sally Nugent is presenting the sports today and there are a few other changes I've noticed this week (but forgotten Embarassed )

At first I thought this was all because it's the first week back but I'm unsure now. What's happened to Marium (if Rachel is permanent)?

By the way, who on this forum sent in a message to the BBC News channel claiming Jane Hill to be the best newsreader? Laughing

EDIT: Mariam now on BBC NC from the Stock Exchange.

Often other random presenters in place of Ben.

Louise doesn't always do Fridays, It's not always Gavin and is Stuart Flinders definitely the new replacement?

Quite often Rachel presents in this slot with Simon on Mondays to Wednesdays. It seems to be quite rare that Carrie presents four days a week.

Also, I am not sure Chris Lowe has left his slot at the weekend to be replaced by Stuart Flinders. Admittedly, Chris seems to be on less and less, but presented that slot during December.

Whenever I tune into BBC News in the afternoon I see Emily Maitlis, which I don't mind at all cause she's my favorite.

I do think Rachel Schofield is very good - and works well with Simon (although most of the women work well with Simon so it's probably more him!).

Was amusing seeing them both interview Jeremy Vine last week at some point - must be fun interviewing your husband.

Kate presenting the News at One on a Friday, yet Louise presenting the 2-5 shift.....

Does seem slightly like Louise was suddenly promoted to being the main relief on the One and Breakfast while Kate did very little, whereas now it seems Kate is the preferred choice for both relief on the One and Breakfast. I hear she is covering for Sian when she goes on maternity leave, but I do still wonder why Louise wasn't on the One.

Also, why does Kate's job seem to be as maternity leave cover? It seems like she's gone from covering for Sian on maternity, to getting a few bits and bobs (such as a few weeks on the 8pm) to covering for Sophie on the one, to doing a few bits and bobs to covering for Sian. Would surely of been better keeping her on the BBC News Channel, taking her off it to cover for Sian/ Sophie, then putting her back on?

Emily is a very relaxed and casual anchor, I like that. She's a breath of fresh air on BBC.
