Maxine Mawhinney presenting The One today made me think why can't she do the weekday One? She easily handled the programme and I prefer her to be a stand-in to Kate Silverton, Jon Sopel and Jane Hill.

I think she'd be great at it but it's very rare these days to see Maxine presenting during the week, so maybe this is why she can't do it.
I knew there would be a BBC News Special about the snow, they do love to overreact. I think since the bad winters in 2010, any snow is treat like a massive event, even if it is only a few cm that causes a bit of localised disruption for about 2 hours!

Was it actually a special though? Was it not just half an hour of the NC because the football on BBC1 was cancelled? And it wasn't really the One, again, just half an hour of the NC.

It was treated as the One - Maxine introduced it as so, and it included the 'coming up' and sting, and weather in studio just like a weekday edition. It wasn't due to the snow though, as chris_rgu says it was just filling time and although the snow was included there were other stories too.

It was lucky Maxine was rostered on duty for this particular simulcast. Wonder if the likes of Annita McVeigh wouldve got on BBC One, if she'd been on duty. (I know Annita doesn't normally do daytime, but I used her as an example!)
