Who is the female sports presenter on the NC this afternoon? Jackie somebody? Never seen her before.

She's been on a few times before, doing the odd shift. Managing to look at the wrong camera for a full link too Wink

Emily presenting the 2pm shift today, can't remember the last time she did anything but Mondays! Tim on his second shift today too.

I wonder if it was intentional having Carole Walker on the NC this morning? She certainly did a very good job handling the Chris Huhne story with her extensive political knowledge

I think so yes - as it's also been a while since she presented, and she took the lead presenter seat. Shame she's not on more, as she is very good.

It really is different strokes for different folks isn't it? I can't stand Carole Walker - I think she's terrible. Wooden, dull, just awful - and yet you think she's 'very good'. It really is a subjective thing I suppose.

I'd sooner see the other two 'over-50' presenters, Fiona Armstrong and Julia Somerville, both are excellent. No complaints about Carole though, she's very good at dealing with breaking news and keeping details and commentary coming through, although that could be to do with her nature as a correspondent gathering information on the spot.

The over-50s have improved so much since they've started presenting the channel. I just wish that Fiona Armstrong presented some of the national bulletins, i.e News at One or Weekend News. I think she's the best out of the three.

Jacqui Oatley is famous for being the first female commentator on MoTD,

Edit : The following I've discovered is untrue:
....as well as an unfortunate incident during an FA Cup MoTD back in the day; she went to introduce a highlight reel from one of the lesser first round matches, something went wrong, she muttered "Oh sh*t" and the highlight reel went out commentless.

According to Youtube, it was Sue Thearle, not Oatley.

Was indeed Sue Thearle - she even said it herself in the TV Newsroom Q&A, see "Worst Moment":
