Oscar nominations special maddening as usual, Jane Hill talked up Tilda Swinton beforehand but no mention afterwards on her failure to be nominated, was she even paying attention? No reaction to any of the surprise nominations either. Reminds me of a few years ago when the were still saying Dreamgirls was the frontrunner a couple of hours after it had failed to get a best picture nomination.

There's a very businessy feel to BBC World News this morning. Sally Bundock taking the news reading lead, Ben Thompson (Big Ben) is filling in for her in the business seat, and the one and only Tanya Beckett is live in Davos!

Nice.

Update: Nice to see Nik Gowing appearing on "Impact", albeit from Davos as opposed to being in London. Lucy Hockings on Impact today. Peter Dobbie up later with The Hub. Peter's good for The Hub. Versatile.

We had Lyse Doucet on The Hub last night. First time in yonks!!!!!

Only just realised with news of Spain's increasing unemployment that Sarah Rainsford is no longer BBC Madrid Correspondent. She has gone to Havana. Presumably Michael Voss has retired??

Tom Burridge is new Madrid correspondent. Both took up places a few weeks ago by the looks of Twitter.

Quote:
Thank you! It will be Tom Burridge, starting a little later this month

Wonder if Tim will achieve a hat-trick on the News Channel today? He did the 2pm shift with Louise and now he's back on at 6.30pm, no doubt he'll be on the 10.30pm shift as well.

I expect someone else will do 10:30pm shift but then why couldn't they do the 7pm shift if it is someone else?

Ah yes, Ad tweeting that he will indeed be on the NC from 22:30.

@aprilj As for why Adam couldn't just do the 7pm shift? Firstly, does it really matter, however it could be because he has better chemistry with Fiona Bruce at the 22:25 handover and makes it look more natural.
