I miss Carrie Gracie on the 8:30am shift. I hope she comes back soon. When someone asked Simon when she would come back on Twitter, he said in the New Year.

Rachel Schofield and Martine Croxall have worked well on their arrangement to cover for her.

Unusual early shift.

Peter Dobbie on The Hub tonight, in for Nik Gowing.

Peter bounces all over the schedules and can appear on literally any programme, except The World Today slot. I think that's the way he likes it, keeping him on his toes!

David Shukman promoted to Science Editor.

Adam Parsons slotted on BBC World tonight. That's great news for us world fans, who often have to contend with mediocrity at the weekends.

I won't even start to mention last weekend's fiasco.

Martine Dennis did the morning, Adam's doing the late, so all we need is Karin G or Peter D or Martine C to do the middle shift, and we're good to go!

Double-headed Sportsday on BBC News Channel with Matt Gooderick and Amanda Davies. Never seen this before. Is it really necessary?

Yep, happens every Saturday at 18:30. They do their best to pretend they're not in a news studio by sticking to side shots it seems.

Also the only time a non-news presenter sits in the main seat, seen a few presenters get their camera mixed up as a result. Take a look at this from a while back!

It's the Sopel and Maitlis show again this afternoon! We're already having tennis and pizza banter, who knows what else to expect........

Simon McCoy has said on Twitter that Carrie Gracie will hopefully be returning in a couple of months.

Does anyone know what illness she has. The amount of time she has taken off and the way he says treatment suggests cancer to me. Hopefully it's something less serious but I wish her a speedy recovery!
