Another nice surprise for us avid BBC News and BBC World viewers: as speculation mounts of a Berlusconni resignation, BBC News is sending none other than Karin Giannone to anchor from Rome. Excellent choice indeed.
She was supposed to present Impact tomorrow. Could be she does so from Roma.

Karin Giannone now in Rome. Expect live inlets tomorrow on The World Today, GMT, Impact, The Hub and News Channel throughout.
Could well be a crucial day in Italy tomorrow. Talk of an overnight unseating of Berlusconi. He surely can't survive this one!
Karin will tell us all tomorrow. Great choice for Italy story.

Don't think I've ever seen Karin presenting on location before. Should be good.

Yes, I saw that before I went to work, and I've just got home to see she's still on air. Presumably she's only done 10 or so minutes each hour, and probably had a break at some point during the day.

She's either gone to bed, or is taking a break this hour. (2100 GMT)
Spotted her simulcasting on World and News Channel at the top of the 2000 hour.

Jamie is an expert in business and finance. So when the major World News is about the Eurozone Crisis, then surely it is better for Jamie to be in the left-hand chair simply because the person being interviewed would be sitting on the left-hand edge of the desk. The right hand edge of the desk is where all the cameras are.
Why is Jamie Robertson taking the lead (and left-hand chair) over Mike Embley???

Less than 10 minutes whenever I've seen her today. Interview a guest, maybe introduce a report and that's been about it. Her role seems to be 'the person live in Rome' on the NC/WN most hours, allowing Alan Johnston/Gavin Hewitt time to compile a report/speak to politicians etc.
