Don't quite know how they managed it, but the BBC Newsreaders' vocal performance on Children in Need was actually quite good and in-tune. Were they singing live, one wonders? Regardless, a particularly good performance by the team. Sophie Raworth's blonde appearance was very much Agnetha-esque!

Sincerely doubt they were singing live - they could barely even keep the microphone to their mouths! Though at points they sounded slightly out of tune, so I wondered if the Mamma Mia actors/ performers were singing live behind them/ offstage, or if they'd recorded it prior to the performance!

What time was their performance aired on CIN, because I noted from the BBC News Channel Thread that Fiona Bruce also presented the Ten oClock News.
They normally still do their normal presenting duties - I expect Susanna was still on Breakfast, Sophie was still on the one and Fiona still on the six and ten. It aired around quite a while later than the ten though.

Does anyone know if George Alagiah is recording another series. His appearances on the Six are becoming more and more infrequent.

Not on Saturday she wasn't.

I don't know, but I wish they wouldn't move Sophie from the one to fill in for him and have Louise Minchin doing the one for her. I'm not keen on her myself and don't think she suited to the six, even though she used to be a regular. If George can't be bothered, as he hasn't been for the past fortnight barring a few days, why not have Fiona do it - she's the relief presenter now isn't she?

Obviously that's not what I'd meant - she simply wouldn't of been allowed to do it if it meant she only got a few hours between finishing CiN and getting ready for breakfast

Personally I think Sophie is very good - far better than George or Louise! If anything I wish Sophie replaced George on the six, then with Fiona on fridays and the other regulars covering for them.

It makes sense for Fiona to present on fridays if she already does the ten, though personally I don't like her on the six. There's just something about her on the six I don't quite like (which is odd because she's fine on the ten).

Sorry Revitt, I wasn't aware you were George's agent, boss, co-worker, family member or friend! For all you know he is only contracted to present a certain proportion of the year - perhaps that was part of the deal he took when it went single headed? Or maybe he is doing other work for the bbc, is ill, regularly takes long holidays or sabbaticals!

In relation to Fiona I don't think she is the "relief presenter", but rather the friday presenter (like I've said it makes financial sense to use her if she's already on Fridays - must be cheaper adding a few hours to her day than dragging someone else in entirely), but I think you'll find Sophie and Sian both regularly present the six mondays to fridays, so surely it's more a pool of presenters who regularly get used on the six and ten.

If anything I'm happier that George takes long periods of time off - while he's fairly competent on BBC World (sorry, BBC World News) he always strikes me as very wooden on the six.

When I said "can't be bothered", I was being mildly homourous - keep your hair on. Wink

Is Stuart Flinders taking over the 18:30-22:00 slot during his five month attachment to the BBC News Channel? Ben Brown hardly ever presents at this time anymore.

Ben normally presents Jon's slot atm, and Jon occasionally presents his - not a clue why but Ben definitely seems to be the one who has to move (he sometimes swaps with Matthew instead).

Would be good if Stuart just joined the channel in general - I wonder who exactly he's meant to be covering for/ replacing - Tim seems to be on the NC less and less atm (another good thing Very Happy )

Does Sean Fletcher do the sport on the national news every weekend now? I'm getting sick of the sight of seing him every single weekend with his constant grin.

Celina makes a lot of appearances too - in fact on the NC at points it seems like shes become the female sports equivalent of Tim Wilcox - on in the morning, gone for lunch, back for the afternoon.

Him, Dan Walker, Francis and Celina are the main four - although I think Amanda Davies did it a few weeks ago.

I don't think I'm wanted on the Presentation thread and JarrodFactor kindly directed me to this thread so I will post some views here.

This weekend Owen Thomas looked a mature presenter without that assinine grin that previously had been a hallmark of his presentation endings. The man is disarming and pleasant to watch and does not need a gimmick.

Is J Charles on holiday?

If he is, he must be relaxing under the studio lights of N8. I saw him on BBC World News less than an hour ago.
