Nicholas Owen has popped out of nowhere to do the BBC News at Five - it's been Tim Willcox continuing from the previous shift all week so far. Wonder if he's doing the evening shift tonight..

No it's, also rather strangely, Matthew Amroliwala on the evening shift with Joanna tonight...

Not overly strange - he's presented the evening slot every 4 or 5 weeks for nearly 4 years now. Jon occasionally swaps his 2-5 for the 7-10 for a week every once in a while as well. I think it's only Simon, Carrie, Jane, Joanna and Louise who never/very rarely present outside their normal time slots.

IIRC it's to do with him filming Crimewatch isn't it?

Tim is on the double headed evening shift on World tonight.

Mike Embleys usual slot? How is Mike these days anyway? He's hardly ever mentioned on these boards any more and I note that he doesn't use Twitter any more. It's almost as if he's been slid off into the wilderness.

^^^ He's still the most regular presenter on World, or maybe BBC in general doing 5 days a week, I know, it's shocking.... Very Happy

Media Guardian reports that Radio 4's You and Yours is moving to Salford. Julian Worricker is a presenter on the show, so I guess potentially it could impact on when he is availble for news channel work (assuming he stays with You and Yours)

But he would be around for the odd Breakfast maybe? He's done it before I think.

He's probably the best stand-in the news channel has in my view.

He's very professional and often a good interviewer, but isn't a big one for chemistry with other presenters - surely a must for morning TV. And I'm sure he can continue to travel to do these shifts; I'm sure someone mentioned Raechel Hodges was going to travel for the Saturday-Sunday night shift?

I'm sure he could travel. I was thinking though he may be more limited in what hours he can do - couldn't do You and Yours from Salford at lunchtime then travel down to London in time to prepare for the 7pm News Channel shift on the same day for example
