It was great to see Peter Sissons presenting the news on BBC One on Saturday. He's unrivalled in terms of authority and gravitas. The BBC really should move him back to BBC One full time, he's much better than when he's on the News Channel.

James Landale and Ellie Crisell on the News Channel now. An interesting pairing. Neither of whom are really suited to presenting the news and don't really know each other.

It should make interesting viewing...

Hear! Hear! Do you think they ever will, though?

I thought they were OK today - both have improved since their first appearances (IMO).

Yes, he is, he just occasionally does a bit of relief presenting as well, usually when lots of people are away.

Kate Silverton on the early evening bulletin tonight - does this mean she's freelance or signed a new contract (following her week on Breakfast). She's also doing a program about her grandfather and the war for remembrance day or something later in the year.

Well I know Silverton was down to do it in the Radio Times, but she hasn't turned up, with Peter Sissons on earlier and Riz Lateef now. Riz's first proper national bulletin (she's done the 8pm bulletins), so it seems last minute.

Interesting, given the way Emily Maitless moved from London to the nationals, I can see Riz making a similar move in the not too distant future.

It's a shame the bulletin isn't available on the BBC News site. Only the afternoon bulletin appears, complete with the News Channel holding countdown over the first two - three seconds of the bulletin.

Yes that is correct.
