Finally!!!! I thought they never would. Katty Kay named lead anchor of WNA.

She's even got her own correspondents page on BBC News website:

About time.

Juliana Liu on Newsday with Kasia Madera overnight. First time, IIRC.

Pretty good as well. She didn't appear nervous - very competent.

same can't be said for the programme itself. It's truly bizarre how they randomly switch to Singapore for a chunk of news. Surely it'd be better to alternate presenters throughout the show on each different story. And the handover? It's toe curling... "You've got news of a big riot in xxx., Rico". "Yes that's right Kasia...".
And the yellow...
There's no sense of depth in the set...
Who's behind this huge dog's breakfast? And what were they thinking?

I have to agree with you. It's very disjointed, and the handover is particularly awkward at times.

Has anyone apart from Babita and Kasia presented from the London end of Newsday yet, just out of interest?

Nope, but Singapore has had Rico, Sharanjit (brilliant - ought to be on more!), Mariko Oi (business correspondent) and Juliana Liu (business correspondent).

However, some of Kasia's Saturday's (BBC News editions) have been done by others, tonight it will be Rachael Hodges.

I think I've seen Kasia cover a couple of Babita's shifts, but no-one else so far. I wonder what the arrangements will be during holidays (not bank holidays, where I believe it's a standard BBC News bulletin from London or Singapore) but say during the Christmas and Easter holidays where normal schedules still apply but presenters take time off. Will Newsday be dropped, or will they continue with two presenters?

I don't know, but Kasia will presumably be on maternity leave around about then anyway!

Presumably?

Maybe they'll bring back Adnan Nawaz for a couple of stints to cover extended leave of absence, or Martine C.

I suspect Martine's in no hurry to get back to the nightshift having done it for so long. I just hope we don't get Raechel Hodges or Rebecca Pike during that time. I wonder what Matt Gooderick would be like on proper news?
