I'd guess Huw Edwards was called in at short notice today. Not the first time a senior presenter has been called in for major news. I'm sure if Kate said she was on the Ten that was the original plan
Quite an arduous workload for Kate if that was the plan, considering she's down for Breakfast all this week aswell!

I seriously doubt that the plan was to have Kate presenting Breakfast, the Six, the Ten AND the following morning's Breakfast, especially given the fact she's pregnant. Assuming she was to leave straight after the Ten, she'd only have about 3 or 4 hours sleep before she'd have to be up for Breakfast!! The only person I've ever heard of who could cope with that little sleep was Margaret Thatcher and she wasn't pregnant!

Has anyone ever before done Breakfast, 6 and 10 all in the same day?
I think Dermot Murnaghan may have done all three once in the summer of 2007, when he was at the BBC
(Infact, here's the TVF thread where it was being discussed at the time that I've managed to dig up!!

Ellie Crisell on again this morning - this time taking the lead on the channel. Although her voice is a little patronising she's far better than when I last saw her, and she's dealing with interviews and breaking news well. Wouldn't have her a main presenter, but fine as a relief presenter.

Richard Askham, sports presenter and reporter on BBC North West Tonight. Good to see another North West presenter making the big time in London, even though it's a relief shift by the looks of it.
