Same sex pairing on the NC tonight:

Kate isn't doing the Ten tonight. She is tweeting that she's going to bed now. I guess it'll be Huw.

Thought it sounded rather odd that she was down to do the Ten tonight. Considering she did Breakfast early this morning and the Six this evening, plus Breakfast early tomorrow morning. For a heavily pregnant woman, that's quite a workload.

Perhaps a late change in plans, considering the breaking news in Libya - or they've managed to get Huw in so Kate can get some sleep for Breakfast.

Kate is really all over BBC last few months, early mornings, late nights, for a pregnant woman it is a bit too much, but she's great to me so I won't complain.

I must say, BBC World News America need to sort out their presenters very soon, as I assume this set-up is only temporary. Last night was Katty Kay, then tonight Jane O'Brien.

Jane really lacks any warmth or personality, and no authority or emphasis in her voice. And she's just tripped over her words twice! Where's the big job for Katty?

Oh, I do miss Matt Frei...

I suppose other presenters have been out of the studio a lot - Susanna has been off weekend breakfast, Sian off presenting the history programme and Sophie has had a lot to do for the olympics and is used a lot for cover for Huw and George.

She actually wasn't too bad on the six tonight I thought.

I think Rachel Schofield has misunderstood BBC World News. Introducing the simulcasted headlines with 'Hello, a very good evening to you" Laughing

Not used to N8 either, looking for the right camera before she started reading the main story!

Is it going out over world? I thought they normally got another programme while the NC used N8?

^^^ Only the headlines go on BBCW, then they show Hard Talk.

I think most of News channel presenters do that.

The headlines do - hence why the presenter always opens with 'A summary of the headlines from around the world now' and the headlines finish with 'Those are the headlines from around the world' - allowing BBC World to opt out.

It's an easy mistake to make though - she's very rarely on the evening shift, and therefore it's even rarer for her to be in N8 doing that section!

Yeah there is always simulcasted headlines at 9.30pm UK time, then it splits, on World is a scheduled programme, and in the UK is just the rest of the news before the News at Ten.
