Ah, that explains why I didn't think of him as presenting then!

EDIT: Seems I was beaten to it with my slow internet! - and as desiroevolution says I do believe the only thing Gavin does on World is Dateline London.

I suppose he might have recorded some links for the weekly compilation edition of Newsnight that used to be shown on World?

Now that Natasha Kaplinsky has joined ITN, one wonders if she will ever eventually find her way back to news reading at the BBC. I have always reckoned that Natasha would one day return to BBC News.

I found him, it was BBC News's Europe Editor Gavin Hewitt.

Goodness gracious. Blast from the past. Last time I saw Gavin Hewitt presenting a news bulletin on BBC News was in the early eighties, in and around the time of the Falklands Conflict.

He subbed on News After Noon occasionally alongside BIG MOIRA, when Richard Whitmore was on holiday.

Search 'News 24 Tonight with Gavin Hewitt' on Youtube - he did a very brief stint on the channel back in 2007. I'd give you the link but I can't get it as I'm stuck with a very poor internet signal!

Yes, and wasn't he awful? I'm sure he's a very capable correspondent - but his presenting style left a lot to be desired. He would practically shout the script out - as if he was coming under enemy fire, doing a piece-to-camera in Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, United Musicians have seen fit to remove the channel that video was uploaded to, along with well over 1000 others.

It really is summer!

BBC World: Babita Sharma on dayshifts. Karin Giannone on late shifts. Mishal Husain away. David Eades again on Zeinab Badawi's programme.

Interesting to see Jon Sopel on the Five the last couple of nights, but not doing the 2-5 shift...

Also in relation to Jon...rumours on Guido Fawkes blog that Andrew Neil could be moving on from the Daily Politics, to the Politics Show...wonder whether it could result in a flip? Jon to Daily Politics perhaps?

Yes, as she calls it herself, Sue Thearle is coming on next with Martine Croxall and Nicholas Owen, to "steer the good ship BBC News into port", or words to that effect, on Twitter.

Yes, it is indeed August. Schools out!

Just about sums her up:

- As has been said elsewhere about Kaplinsky, as much credibility as fluff
- Pompous to boot!
