Yeah, it's kinda bizarre that all three of the 'said' over 50 year olds are on today. Incidentally, anyone noticed that we haven't seen Zeinab on the News Channel for a very long time.
Personally, I love seeing Fiona and Julia presenting. As the old saying going - 'There's life in the old girl yet'. Think they are brilliant.
Julia Somerville on the Saturday bulletins today as well - plenty of over 50s presenting today with Carole Walker doing OBs all afternoon, and Fiona doing a shift earlier.

Bit of a bizarre ending to the 5.20 news. She threw to the regions then looked down as normal, then continued on the News Channel by.... throwing to the regions!
She realised and made a comment along the lines of déjà vu or similar, then introduced Matt Taylor (yawn) for the weather

What about the over 50 male presenters, I don't see any of those.

I believe that most of the male newsreaders on the BBC, apart from maybe Tim Willclocks, are all over the age of 50

Nicholas Owen, Huw Edwards (nearly), George Alagiah, Nik Gowing, Ben Brown, Jon Sopel to name a few - all are regulars to BBC News.

Am I right in thinking that Julia Sommerville was at the BBC before she was at ITN? I seem to remember her presenting the BBC's 9 o'clock news.

Yes, she presented the BBC Nine O' Clock News for a number of years throughout the 1980s, before joining ITN around 1987/88

Yes, it was 1987. She jumped ship to present the newly launched ITN News at 12:30, which replaced News at One when Leonard Parkin retired in July 1987.
