I'm sure every time I see Sophie Long, Tim Willcox will either be on the previous, next or a simultaneous shift?!!

Probably because they are both presenting very often. However seeing Tim Willcox doing the Saturday bulletins and Sophie Long on the Saturday evening shift are both very unusual, Sophie is mostly presenting weekdays and Tim Willcox does anything on the NC!

Did anyone notice who did the Sport on the NC at 1650-ish??? Obviously a last minute solution, Lizzie took over for the next hour.

Nice to see Kasia Madera on the overnight tonight - a much better presenter and interviewer than a few of the newsreaders they've had on recently.

With talk about Alastair yates' Possible retirement on the BBC World News thread found confirmation from the man himself.

Sad to think he's been with the BBC for 36 years and disappears quietly and unannounced. You'd of thought he'd get a daytime slot for his last bulletin so the co-presenter could say bye.

After all, he was a year shorter then Chris Lowe and was the last remaining BBC World presenter from it's launch.

I agree with you completely. If it's only a few minutes out of news to show a compilation of a few clips of him. A great man like that after 36 years and gets no mention at all. A shame he's gone. Deborah McKenzie isn't the same as him, but Babita is my new favourite. Alistair was much better than Chris Lowe as well, especially in terms of fans on this forum.

Agree, really sad and disrespectful from BBC.

On the other hand, going from Alastair to perhaps the worst presenter ever: Kate Silverton is on the One today. Call me pedantic, but there are many things about her that annoy me.

Her intonation is really annoying me. She is trying to sound authoritative but she just ends up sounding stupid or like a man, by putting on a deep voice and saying sentences in a strange way. Then she glances at her papers à la Huw Edwards which is unnecessary. Also, she has an air of 'I deserve better than this'. She gives that impression on Breakfast, as if she is too good for the programme, and she comes across as quite condescending during interviews and also on today's One. The way she glares at the camera in a serious, almost angry face is offputting. She shakes and moves her head a lot as well. Rant over!

Jon Sopel, Simon McCoy or Emily Maitlis, anyone but Kate Silverton. I wouldn't rave over Sophie Raworth either really, I think Emily Maitlis is much better than her, considering her vast experience on Newsnight and other presenters. She doesn't come across as snooty or arrogant (at least most of the time!).

Just seen an interesting tweet posted yesterday by Kasia

'Back on regularly as the #BBCWorld overnight presenter from tonight. Will be on every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Now off to bed!'

Clearly then Adnan is off for now, but how this fits with babita's newsday programme I don't know?'

Babita Sharma will do Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Kasia Madera will do Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. It's the same pattern the overnight presenters have been following for years.

I assume they'll stick with a random roster on Saturdays, then? Interesting that Kasia is back, wonder if Adnan's going back to daytime sport, or indeed the new overnight sports?

Just to add to others' comments, very sad about Al. Hope he enjoys his retirement.
