I've seen Deborah Mackenzie, Kasia Madera, Rebecca Pike and now Rachel Hodges all filling in for Adnan and Alastair last three weeks. Hope he hasn't left. He's great.

Babita Sharma has been on quite a lot too recently.

Naga did GMT on Good Friday as well. She's good on that.

Interesting it was taken out in 2008, shocking really, I'm sure the BBC new of this, I'm amazed they didn't dismiss him for such misconduct as he is rather high profile. Let's hope the other more recent gagging orders of a 'famous TV star' come out too.

Hard to see how they could have dismissed him for 'misconduct'. One way or the other, gagging orders are only granted when the person fighting for it can convince a judge they have sufficient legal right to. While I'm not saying they always are legal, the BBC couldn't dismiss someone for enacting a legal right.

That said, it really wouldn't surprise me if Andrew Marr had come under pressure the last few days from bosses about this. Because of both the order itself and his subsequent criticism of the way they're handled, I don't think there's any way Andrew Marr can be at all unbiased on the issue.

Just to clarify, I didn't mean to suggest he should have been dismissed for the gagging order, more for the affair with a fellow journalist. Rather inappropriate and he should have known better, especially being as high profile as he is, and echoing Ian Hislop's thoughts on Radio 4 this morning that its slightly hypocritical since he'd written a piece specifically about privacy law in which he said judges should not determine privacy law, it should be determined by parliament.

They almost certainly knew - Private Eye have been hinting at it for months.

My mistake. Apologies.

For the first time in a long time, Nisha Pillai is coming up later tonight with World News Today ZB. Always a pleasure to see Nisha presenting.

I hardly see the point in a gagging order anyway.

E.g. the Premiership footballer - Big Brother contestant.

It hasn't been published in the mass media, but we all know who it is don't we?

Is the lady on overnights today Jannat Jalil? I haven't seen her for a long time as I believe she's been on BBC World.

Yes, it was Jannat Jalil. She hasn't been on BBC World for quite some time either, but did start to appear after Owen Thomas's departure, on the weekend shift.

Actually, was the simulcast hours shortened last night, or did Jannat just make a mistake by saying "you're watching BBC World News", at the bottom of the 0430 London time wrap?
