AJ-D A B-YA, with the pronunciation on the middle "A".

Libyan's say it so quickly, it sounds almost like AJ-DIBYA. That's the correct way. The best pronunciation of it - by far - goes to Zeinab Badawi, and then Kevin Connolly. Kevin is remarkably close to perfect pronunciation.

Matt Gooderick has posted on Twitter that James Dagwell has left the BBC today. Certainly haven't seen him on the night shift in a while - no mention of where he's going.

I wonder what he's been doing the last few weeks/ months. I wonder if we could be seeing more of Rebecca Pike on overnights, with James Dagwell and Juliet Dunlop having departed. Is Kasia Madera now a reporter, by the way?

Has Sophie Long been quietly promoted to co-presenter on the afternoon shift? She seems to be on so regularly in the afternoons, and Martine Croxall seems to have replaced her on weekend and relief shifts. I'm sure Yvette Cooper just referred to her by name at the start of their interview. A very competent presenter, but she doesn't have the same chemistry with Jon that Louise and Emily have - and that's not required for a news channel, but can make things more interesting (especially for those [on this forum] who see more than 15 minutes of it a day).

Indeed, what I find is that Emily does her shift/News At One/ Newsnight on a Monday, Sophie will do whatever until Thursday/Friday when Louise does the shift - so perhaps she does Tuesdays/Wednesdays?

Except Louise seems to have done about 10 days over the past month. If she's not moving with Breakfast, perhaps she'll present on a more regular basis next year. Not that it matters, just miss the banter.

Timbo is back from Libya. He's presenting on BBC World this morning, in the David Eades slot, which suggests that David will be up later for GMT or perhaps WNT. (Tim with a Tan, by the way.)

Saw the Tanya Beckett/Mike Embley slot last night (with Tanya in the Left Hand seat as we look at the screen, for a change). I now see what everyone means about her giggliness. It looked last night as though she was about to burst out laughing on several occasions, as she and Mike continued to trip over each other. I am not sure that he's actually enjoying it, somehow.

He looks a bit deflated two hours later when he comes back on for his solo bulletin.

Carrie Gracie is still presenting into 11am - this isn't normal, is it?

And sure enough, David Eades is doing GMT. Komla Dumor presenting live from Nigeria as well.

Edit: Tanya Beckett doing Weekend World this week. Will make a nice change.

Tanya Beckett was good on Weekend World. Quite humorous. She did a sprinkling of continuity announcements as well during the weekend.

With Peter Dobbie running the London Marathon at the moment, he's coming in to do the evening shift on BBC World. Madeleine Morris is doing the afternoon shift in his place. Apart from the Eric Morecambe spectacles which are reflecting badly in the studio lights, she is also tripping over every second word and making a hash of some simple stuff. Will be a bit better with time, one presumes.

Wonder who will replace Owen Thomas on the weekends? It was Jannat Jalil who did his shift yesterday and Madeleine today.

After thirteen weeks in the field, Lyse Doucet is back in the studio today. Her Highness of the Headline. The Duchess of the Deadline. The Baroness of the Bulletin. Etc, etc....
